Lick It Up - Kiss
by ...J-5... - written on 01/06/01 (Useful, 90 readings)
Rating:
Its 1983 & this album was the first one by Kiss after they unmasked,With the hit single Lick It Up they were back!! This was also the first album to feature Vinnie Vincent (He was quoted once for saying he played on Creatures of the night but neither him or Ace Frehley did) With 10 songs of pure heavy rock this is a must for any Kiss fan, The album starts off with a song that could have come from Music from the Elder album called Exciter, its a good song where you can hear Kiss becoming more heavy metal as apossed to classic rock. Vinnies guitar work on this song & the whole album is a complete change of style from Ace's ( Ace still rules ).Not For The Innocent is ...

Alive - Kiss
by pgarbutt - written on 18/08/00 (Very useful, 38 readings)
Rating:
not entirely eart-shattering, Kiss decided that the best way for people to enjoy their music was to let them hear the live versions, as their concerts were always more popular than vinyl. The Alive! album single-handedly pulled Kiss (and their record company Casablanca) out of the red and very much into the black, as people ...

Kiss - Kiss

Rating:
with this modestly successful 1974 self-titled cut, probably released more on the strength of their stage show than any actual faith in the group s music. How to describe Kiss music is on the one hand quite simple, but on the other difficult. The reason it s difficult is that they have had a habit of changing their sound somewhat in the 30+ years since this album was released. A blanket statement could be that they play anthemic, party-rock. Lyrics rarely go beyond women, parties, drink and rock and roll, but then that s part of the appeal. The best description of the band s sound circa this record would be the glam rock anthemic quality of Slade (Gene Simmons admits ...
