When it comes to me and music I have an extremely wide taste in what I like and what I dislike, I have found that sometimes I am listening to music that people have never heard of before, and then other times, bands have been out for years before I actually realise it and Kid Rock is one of those.

When I first heard the song 'All Summer Long' I instantly liked it and initially thought it was a new band, however I found that Kid Rock have been around for donkeys years and this album Rock n Roll Jesus is actually their 11th album that they have completed with All Summer Long being the 3rd song on the album to be released. Kid Rock seems to be extremely popular in their home country of the States and I don't think is that well known until the release of this particular song which is the highest charting song that he has done in the UK, which charted at number 1 after 4 weeks of its release.

THis particular song has got to be one of the songs of the summer where he remenisces of a summer in his life which he remembers to be one of the best, which I think most people do and sings of what he got up to during that summer period. With samples of the song Sweet Home Alabama, and that being the track that they seemed to listen to All Summer Long.

THe album kicks off with a track the same name as the album. Its a great introductory track to the album and sets the standards quite high really for other songs to compete with it. Its another song that remenisces of past experiences and he coments quite a lot on his homes towns in which is comes from. A Rock song that is quite likeable, with a great beat and good lyrics.

Amen, the second track on the album starts a little bit more mellow with a acoustic guitar backing to start, eventually breaking into a mellow Rock song. The lyrics of this track are really good, he goes through various scenarios that deserve to have a prayer said for them, for example a soldier fighting that wants to say his last goodbyes to his wife and children and really sings that we should think more about others that are worse off than us. Also includes what I believe to be a gospel choir towards the back end of the track which is extremely appropriate. One of my favourite tracks on the album, and a good song to follow the initial song on the album.

Third song is All Summer Long, which again gives the album another great track to keep it consistent because is more than likely the track that people actually buy this album for.

So Hott has quite a long guitar introductory and is one of the more explicit tracks on the album. I feel that a good start to the album and that this track lets it down a little bit. Basically he is talking about a women that he likes but it becomes more explicit which is a little uncalled for and spoils the song and I don't think its needs that to make it a good track.

Considering their are a few tracks that I don't like, I have quite surprised myself how much I actually like this album. Although its a rock album, it has quite a lot of country in it, more than likely because of where they originate from, which is likeable. I get the feeling that they are quite a religious band and gospel choirs feature highly in this album. They have been around for 18 years now and I have only just found out about that. A great album, and I think I will be checking out some of their previous work.
