Live music can be a bit of a lottery. Some bands figure that once you’ve paid your money, they have you and don’t make much of an effort. What you get from them is little more than listening to a CD, only with pictures. Others are a little more giving than that, and you at least get a little banter between the band and the audience, and a chance to sing along. For much the same reason, buying live albums can be a lottery. They can vary from those albums thrown out at an awkward period of a band’s career and used in much the same way as a greatest hits album, such as with Poison’s “Swallow This Live” album.
