DavidJay Time Out Of Mind - Bob Dylan
... Out Of Mind is the album pretty much everyone was hoping Bob Dylan would make following 1989 s magisterial, immaculate Oh Mercy. Like the latter, it is a stunning, swamp-water thick Daniel Lanois-produced masterpiece as wrenching and as touching as anything Dylan has ever done. Between the two albums, Dylan released the sorely disappointing Under A Red Sky and, much more pertinently, two sparse, acoustic collections, Good As I Been To You and World Gone Wrong, both comprised entirely of new recordings of age-old folk and blues standards. Time Out Of Mind is not an acoustic record, and it is compositions are Dylan s own, but it feels very much like a fire resultin...

MisterReview The Very Best Of 10CC - 10CC
... for the over forties. If you like soft rock, perhaps a little AOR in places, with a little hint at a Beach Boys influence in places you will absolutely love this. Over 70 mins of reminiscing. OK friends this is a wonderful 1970s nostalgia fest indeed, each track will have you thinking "I remember just what I was doing then." Some of my favourites are Donna; I find 10cc original and unoriginal at the same time. They definitely let whatever influences shine through and this has a 1950s feel, brought into the 1970s. Wall Street Shuffle; I love the riff at the beginning it is just straight in. Great content in the lyrics. I m Not In Love; Atmospheric! T...

Dancers Union by Soul Asylum This 1992 record was actually Soul Asylum s sixth, although many probably mistook the Minneapolis alt-rock five-piece for a new act, riding in on the coattails of the Seattle sound of Nevermind and Ten from the year before. Despite the heavy sound of the lead single, Somebody To Shove, singer and songwriter Dave Pirner actually has a fine ear for a more traditional style of ballad, and it was the third single, Runaway Train, that brought the band their biggest success, and won the 1994 Grammy Award for the best rock song. It was accompanied by a video from director Tony Kaye (who went on to make the Edward Norton prison drama American ...
