I was once the kind of child who would ridicule my mothers taste in music, with good reason...Bay City Rollers, Boomtown rats, and the dreaded Wings, but I have newfound respect for her after finding this cd lurking in amongst all the rubbish. Andrea Bocelli is one of the finest tenors singing today. No doubt about it, he easily ranks with the Pavarottis of this world. I had heard quite a few of his classical arias on TV, as well as his hit with Sarah Brightman, 'Time to Say Goodbye'. I bought this CD as it contained the latter song (which is a delightful and warming piece of modern classical music), and sounded as though the other tracks would inspire me as well. Unfortunately, the album was not quite what I was expecting. I am a definite fan of Andrea Bocelli, and have been since purchasing a copy of Aria some time ago. Therefore I was delighted to discover that a friend of mine had a copy of Romanza, which he offered to lend to me. Sadly, this album was a serious disappointment. Andrea Bocelli has a very good and well trained voice, ideally suited to the type of operatic aria to which I am accustomed, although he performs a totally inappropriate selection of songs on this album. I am quite amazed that he ever recorded this, as he has said himself how much he loves operatic works.
