Love stories and songs aren't usually my thing, but the I thought the film remake was excellent. It's because of this that I downloaded the soundtrack which complements the film wonderfully. The songs on their own may not have stood out to you before or necessarily be your taste, if you've seen the filmed and liked it, you may find yourself listening to the soundtrack on repeat (like me!). Romeo & Juliet (please note this is the official music from the motion picture, so it's the popular songs rather than the actual score) was released on CD in March 1997. It's quite surprising that the music still sounds fresh and up-to-date considering that was now over ... Read the complete review

A few years back in 1996 Baz Lurhman remade Romeo and Juliet, one of the greatest love stories ever told, into a hit film starring Clare Danes as Juliet and Leonardo Dicaprio as Romeo. He blended old with new, using Shakespeare’s language in a modern day setting. I actually really liked the film, I felt it was quite fresh and although it took me a few minutes to get into the language, it soon all became clear. As I was sitting in the cinema the first time I watched this film I noticed there were a few songs in the film that I really quite liked and so decided to buy it. After all, surely such a fresh and slightly quirky film had to have a soundtrack to match? ... Read the complete review

The Romeo and Juliet soundtrack is one of my favourites about, although it’s only one CD it’s got plenty of music to entertain you from the hit film. I’m not the biggest fan of Romeo and Juliet brought up to date but I find that the songs not only work well for the plot but also are attractive in themselves. The track list: #1 Crush (Garbage) Local God (Everafter) Angel (Gavin Friday) Pretty Piece of Flesh (One Inch Punch) Love Theme (Des’ree) Whatever (Butthole Surfers) Lovefool (The Cardigans of Course!!!!) Young Hearts Run Free (Kym Mazelle) Everybody’s free (Quindon Tarver) To You I ... Read the complete review

Before I begin I should admit something. Now this is something I am deeply ashamed of and have recieved counselling for, so your support would be appreciated here...ok, here goes. The main reason I ever watched the film 'Romeo and Juliet' was to see a certain Mr. DiCaprio. I can't claim I was interested in seeing how the director managed to expertly pull off 'modernising' a tragic Shakespearean love story without losing the fundamental appeal of a classic...I wanted to see Leo's writhing half naked body. But without this temporary lapse in taste on my part, I would possibly never have been as infatuated with such amazing movie and equally ... Read the complete review
