'Run Devil Run' has lived up to Macca's promise of a return to his youth with covers of 'some of the songs that first made me want to pick up a guitar'such as Blue Jean Bop, I Got Stung and a brilliant cover of Elvis' All Shook Up. Premium Review Run Devil Run - Paul McCartney: Paul McC - the man still rocks!! (275 words)

Paul McCartney - the man is a musical genius. This was evident throughout his Beatle years probably more so than since then, and that was when he was doing what he does best - good old rock 'n' roll. I wasn't around in that fanastic decade, having rather unfortunatly been born about thirty years too late, and yet the Beatles are a great passion of mine, because their talent, in my opinion, is timeless. In this his latest album, Paul makes a return to 'the good old days' in an attempt to make his records the way he used to with his fellow moptops - minimal rehearsal, just playing around, seeing what happens - and capturing the raw energy and ...  Read the complete review

Rating:

Paul McCartney always said he liked rock and roll, and this is certainly what this album is all about. Recorded in March 1999, Paul picked his group and told them to be at Studio 2 Abbey Road. Hi did not allow them to practise. He said he wanted it to be fresh - and that is what it is. The songs are real rock and roll, and the album oozes the feel of excitement and life. Many of the songs date to the 1950s and it's brilliant. You can tell that Paul and the others are really enjoying themselves, and that feel comes through in all the songs. In summary it must be one of Paul's best. I certainly enjoyed it and if you like that sort of thing, it's great. ...  Read the complete review

Unpretensiously enjoyable. A lot of it does sound the same.

Alanis back doing what she does best, writing infectious but powerful songs, Demonstrates a more mature approach both musically and lyrically, 'At That Particular Time', 'Precious Illusions' 'You Owe me Nothing' edges a bit too close to filler for comfortIt's still recognisably Alanis, so if you hated 'Jagged Little Pill' you'd best steer clear

Wonderful fantastic and brilliant Alder NONE AT ALL

Lots of great tracks, Good value for money Won't appeal to everyoneGenres covered are a bit limited

fantastic songs sadly 911 are no longer a group

Meats vocals, Good music, Cheap Meats vocals are not as strong as on Bat out of hell.

Waiting For The Floods - Armoury Show
Enjoyable post-punk and proto-gothic, and other terms I'm clearly making up. Lacks individuality.

So Red The Rose - Arcadia
Experimental and atmospheric, but retains a pop sensibility. The softer songs sound rather similar.

New Age Of Earth - Ashra
Retro ambience for Tangerine Dream fans. Not up to the standards of its competitors, a disappointing change of direction.

Hed Kandi - The Mix 2008
Dance & Electronic - House & Garage - 2007

Eat Me, Drink Me - Marilyn Manson
Powerful Gothic Metal, Manson At His Best None

Beyond The Dark - Ancara
Nice atmosphere and high production values. Far too short, lacking in intensity and overly ballad-based.

Army Of Anyone - Army of Anyone
Reasonable enough modern rock. Doesn't stand out.

All Together Now - Argent
Mix of styles, as long as you're fond of organ rock. Inconsistent.

A Diamond For Disease - Arsis
Title song is a brilliant long death metal piece. Other half is essentially filler.

A Long March - As I Lay Dying
Previously rare material made available. It's unrefined, unimpressive metalcore.
