The Million Dollar Hotel

Premium Review 999,998 dollars...999,999 dollars... (2598 words)

As some of you may or may not know, I am a U2 fan. May I point out however, that I am not enough of a U2 to go out and spend 15.99 or whatever on a CD which has ONE previously unreleased U2 song, and three songs from Bono . However, I saw this CD for 5.99 before this damned Euro came into Ireland, and I decided that if it has Bono, U2, Daniel Lanois AND Brian Eno that's good enough for me. This is, as the title suggests, the soundtrack to The Million Dollar Hotel, hence my clever name for this opinion. The film is supposed to be rubbish, although who am I to judge? I haven't seen it. It's supposed to be very arty and the like, so its not really my type of film. It's ...

Now That's What I Call Music! 47

Premium Review A solid offering from the Now team (376 words)

impressed me in their song selection and in the track sequencing as well. Disc 1 has 20 tracks on it, and kicks off with one of the most successful Artists of the years just surrounding the turn of the millenium: Robbie Williams, with Rock DJ. Williams also features later on in the CD with Kylie in their duet Kids. Ronan Keating s Life Is A Rollercoaster and Anastacia s I m Outta Love are two highlights for me on a good CD, although You Need Love Like I Do from Tom Jones and Heather Small seems curiously out of place in amongst such company as LeAnn Rimes and All Saints, both of whom had excellent hits on this disc. The second disc doesn t seem as strong as the first, ...

Now That's What I Call Music! 47

Premium Review 2000 not as good as I remember (200 words)

The Now Thats What I Call Music series has been churning out quality compilation albums ever since it started in 1983. Now! beats all the competition by having the most hits on one album which it is able to do thanks to a deal between the "big four" record companies. Now 47 was released way back in the year 2000 and contains 42 tracks suitable for a new millenium. I have to say however, that I am not impressed with the tracks on this album. There are a few good tracks such as Trouble by Coldplay and Rock Dj by Robbie Williams, but most of the tracks on here just dont excite me. Maybe its because they are 9 years old now and just dont seem to compare to todays modern music industry ...
