Advantages: All of it
Disadvantages: It has to end
By far and away the best Incubus album, SCIENCE was released in September 1997 and is the bands second album. It is the heaviest of all their albums and combines jazz, funk, hip hop, drum and bass and metal to form a perfect mixture.
Moving on from their first album which was centred around jazz and heavy rhythm, SCIENCE turns the guitars up a notch, quickens the pace and provides catchy lyrics and choruses which i defy you not to sing a long to.
If you are a fan of their more recent music and have not heard this album before then you are in for a shock. The current music which is bland and whiney has replaced Incubus at their best, when they were without a designated genre and just produced the music they played. This produced SCIENCE and i am yet to hear a similar album from any band which fuses so much together in a successful package.
Standout tracks are pretty much all of them and i think i'm right in saying not one single was released from this album.
The booklet and art work is a mystery to me and doesn't strike you as having any connection with the music. But, who cares?
Overall, one of my favourite albums. Prominently a metal sound, but i would encourage anyone to listen to it.
