Hearsay - Alexander O'Neal

Premium Review None Of That Pure And Simple Biz (910 words)
by XICripZ - written on 13/04/09 (Very useful, 79 readings)
Rating:

Alexander O'Neal dropped his second album, "Hearsay" in 1986, a year after debuting with a self-entitled record to burst through on the music scene as another force in the R&B/Soul scene of the mid eighties. The Mississippi native's top material came out of this album, and allowed him to breakthrough as a worldwide mainstream performer. 1. "Intro" 2. "To Make You Love Me" To get things going have a song to begin things which takes on the form of the funky Dance-R&B of the time. Hearsay - Alexander O'Neal

Premium Review I hear you say... (211 words)
by benlepensive - written on 28/01/09 (Useful, 4 readings)
Rating:

presence in today s music scene tends to be reserved for appearing on reality tv shows which is a shame as his voice is still there. On this album: Alexander s voice is rich yet has a piercing quality to it, he has a unique tone and a superb range. I recommend Criicize which was released twice here as a single in the UK. The song makes effective use of his biting voice and despite the harsh lyrics, the song retains a poppy feel. It is helped by the female chorus hook which is a godsend. Hearsay slows things down, as Alexander pours his heart about about the pitfalls of romance and lies. Fake is him pointing his finger at a nogood lady and he carries off this ...
