'Santi' is the second studio album from Chicago's The Academy Is..., it was produced by Butch Walker and takes on more of a rock approach than the bands first album 'Almost Here' did. The first album was very much rooted in the pop punk genre, but when you listen to 'Santi' you can hear right from the offset that there has been quite a stylistic change here. The album was released in April 2007 through the record label Fueled By Ramen, a third album is set to be released in 2008 but a release date for this has yet to be announced. The first time I heard a track from this 'Santi' album I have to say that I was extremely disappointed. I was a huge fan of ... Read the complete review

am a very big fan of the first effort from The Academy Is titled 'Almost Here.' The Chicago based pop punk band, fronted by william Beckett, delivered a highly original and enjoyable debut album in 2004, released through the record label Fueled by Ramen. Fueled by Ramen have already brought us such bands as Panic! at the disco, Fall Out Boy, Cute Is What We Aim For and pretty much any of the other bands consisting of American twenty-somthings with girly hair. The Academy Is fits nicely into this subgenre of pop punk emoish US bands which have been flooding our radios and stereo's in the past few years. I brought The Academy Is second album "Santi" in its ... Read the complete review

The first and third album from The Academy Is are both amazing album so it perplexed me as to what went wrong when producing and writing this album. It is extremely dissapointing, it may have one or two ok songs on it but in general it lacks what the other albums have which is upbeat songs and lyrics, this one in comparison seems moody and darker. The Academy Is feature on the same label 'Fueled By Ramen' as other similar band such as Fall out Boy, Cute is What We aim for, Cobra Starship so this gives you an idea as to what type of music it is. The lead singer William Beckett has amazing vocals that can be overlooked in this labum due to the quality ... Read the complete review

Santi is the follow-up album to Almost Here by the The Academy Is... The album kicks off with 'Same Blood' which is very generic. There is a notable difference forming after just one song between this and their last album Almost Here. The opening of 'LAX to O'Hare' is good, but after 30 seconds it gets boring. Next is 'We've Got A Big Mess On Our Hands' - yes, yes you have. It's catchy though. 'Sleeping With Giants (Lifetime)' - Utterly boring 'Everything We Had' is the poorest song on the album. It's supposed to be a raw song, yet sounds so far from the raw sound of their first album. 'Bulls In Brooklyn' - Not a ... Read the complete review
