Greatest Hits Vol.2 - Queen
by Stevie3535 - written on 17/07/00 (Very useful, 46 readings)
Rating:
Hits I by Queen contains some essential tracks (Bohemian Rhaspody, We will rock you...etc), Greatest Hits II contains some of the best songs Queen ever wrote. Songs like A kind of magic, I want to break free, Radio Ga Ga and Hamnmer to Fall etc are all some of the bands most enduring material and is loved by all. This is a very ...

Sheer Heart Attack - Queen
by The Harmonizer - written on 14/08/00 (Very useful, 62 readings)
Rating:
Queen have always been prolific writers but when they first started out they recorded three albums in two years! (Queen I, Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack). In my opinion Sheer Heart Attack and A Night At The Opera were their best and although they have done a lot of work since nothing quite comes up to this standard. I think the main difference between this and later albums is that they slightly toned down their heavy rock in order to appeal to a more mainstream audience. The album opens with "Brighton Rock" the guitar solo on this is brilliant with Brian adopting an echo that allows him to harmonise with himself in left and right speakers. There is also an ...

Sheer Heart Attack - Queen
Queen- Sheer Heart Attack (207 words)by - written on 08/07/00
Rating:
This was the first Queen album I came across, from the moment I started to play it I just couldn't take it off the turntable..that was I must admit back in 1974. Funnily if you listen to it today it still stands up as( in my view ) an "all time great", it was this album that converted me to Queen. We were led to believe later that the title track of the album which incidentally turned up on a later piece of work namely News of the World, couldn't fit on Sheer Heart Attack due to a shortage of room. What a blunder that was as Sheer Heart Attack ( the track), was as near to a piece of punk rock as Queen ever came. The cover on which Freddie made all ...
