Advantages: great music
Disadvantages: none
This is the third studio album from one of the UK?s biggest rock groups, probably bigger in America than here in the UK but this album proves how good Bush are. "The Science of Things" is significantly different to Bush's previous albums "Sixteen Stone" and "Razorblade Suitcase", but this doesn't make it any worse, it's just different and the album deserves more credit than it received. To find out more information about Bush visit their website, www.bushnet.com. The album inlay is very strange; it has the lyrics to all of the songs. For each song there is two pages and there is some very strange art work, which relates to each of the songs, along with the lyrics. This is a very good album, please read on to find out more about the album. The following tracks appear on "The Science of Things" and make up a 51-minute treat of an album. 1. Warm Machine (4.25) 2. Jesus Online (3.44) 3. The Chemicals Between Us (3.37) 4. English Fire (3.31) 5. Spacetravel (4.45) 6. 40 Miles from the Sun (3.39) 7. Prizefighter (5.41) 8. The Disease of the Dancing Cats (4.01) 9. Altered States (4.11) 10. Dead Meat (4.16) 11. Letting the Cables Sleep (4.36) 12. Mindchanger (4.48) * Warm Machine * This song doesn't really have anything to do with machines, of any kind, it is about life and not knowing what is coming next. The "Warm Machine" I think is possibly feeling like you have a purpose. * Jesus Online * As you may think this song is to do with the Internet. I think that it is about how the world has changed in the past few years. It's now computers that play an important part in our lives, even meeting people socially through the Internet. * The Chemicals Between Us * This song is a look at relationships and how they can be ruined by unexpected pregnancies. It is not saying that the man does
not want the baby, it is talking about the divisions between the couple and how that even being with their lover can feel lonely not knowing what to do. ** English Fire ** This song is all about suicide and has references of comparing suicide to the crucifixion of Jesus, "your crown of thorns, my crown of lead". I also think that the song is about someone of death row wanting to kill themselves for their sins to free themselves. * Spacetravel * This song is about the growing use of surveillance in the world today. It is about a possible future when the only way to get out of this is to go into space. It is also about someone scared that they are being followed so they employ a spy to find out, but they are scared that the spy is lying. The vocals on this track are by Gwen Stefani from No Doubt. * 40 Miles from the Sun * This song is a very mellow song (but a sad), but don't get me wrong this is still a very good song. This song is about someone who has done everything and the only thing that can be done is looking the stars and the sun. * Prizefighter * This song is about life and how that death is chasing us, "we're all chasing something". But the person that the song is about doesn't want to just "fade away"; the "Prizefighter" is the person in the song who is fighting through life trying to get the best out of it. * The Disease of the Dancing Cats * This is by far my favourite song on the album. This song has nothing to do about cats, but the song is about how we are destroying our world and how if we do nothing about it then we will die in the end. The disease in the end is our self, if we stop polluting everything, then we will kill ourselves. * Alteredstates * This song is again a song about life, the altered states are the different stages in our lives and how after all that we have done our lives are still empty.
>* Dead Meat * This song seems to be about a murderer who killed someone called Dorothy. The song seems to be about the family getting revenge on the killer for her death, talking about the different ways of getting their revenge. The song also says how it is hard for the family to get on with their lives without revenge or justice. ** Letting the Cables Sleep * This song seems to be about someone trying to talk their friend out of killing themselves and the title of the song seems to be a reference to suicide. * Mind Changer * This song seems to be about a person wanting to leave, possibly town, possibly kill themselves and there is another person trying to change their mind. ** My Thoughts ** This is a very good album with a load of excellent songs on it! Bush I feel deserve more success than they have had in the UK.
