Advantages: Album Length
Disadvantages: Matt Tuck's Voice bless him!
Bullet for my valentines new album, 'Scream, Aim, Fire,' is their long awaited second full length album.
~~Scream Aim Fire~~
the opening riffs bring back the long awaited sound of the classic bullet sound. Admittedly the lyrics are fairly repetitive, but Matt Tuck's voice makes up for the lack of imagination! Despite his obvious tonsillitis he takes his lyrics and music on a par with Trivium. As their first released single of this album it does capture the audience, it does make you want to listen to the rest of the album by being so inquisitive to see where the foursome from Wales take their music.
~~Eye of the storm~~
Initially bursting into lyric, almost following on from 'Scream, Aim , Fire' although the lyrics are more melodically and can be heard more clearly, though I have to say the gruff gravel voice is a big influence on much of the audience along with the ear piercing riffs if placed at a really high volume..! If you ever feel the need to head bang to any of these tracks this is the ideal track to do it to. It is great for stress management in my opinion as you can get so deep into the music that you do forget the stress.
~~Hearts Burst Into Fire~~
A more melancholic song, with a deeper meaning and a opening riff enough to make you want to play air guitar or even to inspire you to take up guitar itself. A reflective song with lyrics that made me think and is slightly emotional. Bringing a new level to their music making, a more emo-rock genre.
~~Waking the Demon~~
The one track on the album guaranteed to keep you humming all day long. The lyrics stick in your head. After a few listens I began to skip the initial three songs so I could listen to track 4 first..! It is highly addictive with guitar anthem style quick riffs!
~~Disappear~~
A quick involved follow on to track 4, never the less as enrapturing as the rest, the lyrics are a more dominant feature of this track but it is very catchy and along with the rest of the album it is difficult to ignore as one of the best tracks on the album.
~~Deliver Us From Evil~~
The first moment I heard this I began to think of similarities to Funeral For a Friend, this may be because of the similarities of their background but it is again a highly repetitive song with the lyrics 'The tank is empty let it dry,' which does become slightly annoying but I so still really like the song.
~~Take It Out On Me~~
By far my favourite track on the whole album. It has the most catchy chorus that will have crowd singing along so loud, when they tour it will deafen! I can't say too much about it or I will be here all night but it has the best riffs of the album, the most inspiring lyrics and the vocals were handed over to Benji Webb to give Matt's voice a chance to recover from a severe bout of tonsillitis
~~Say Goodnight~~
Opening with a thunder storm similar to the opening track of their debut album 'The Poison,' it again has similarities to a 30 seconds to mars track, that I cannot see the band being influenced by but despite that it is a great song that is a little more down-beat but it is as equally placed in the running order of the album as the tracks wind down.
~~End of Days~~
The only track I feel is slightly boring it doesn't capture my attention. It sounds very similar to some of the samey tracks from 'The poison. '
~~Last to Know~~
Is another wind down track to the album as the guitar is not as dominant as many of the other tracks, yet it still holds the trademark Bullet sound that we all know and love..!
~~Forever and Always~~
Is the most melancholic and melodically track on the album its slow and long, but is worth the 6minutes 48 seconds. Even if you are not one to listen to a song this heavy before going out, it really does give you a sense of happiness and well being..!
I found this album in HMV for £8.99, which for HMV i thought was reasonably priced. It is avilable pretty much in all music shops online and in the highstreet ranging from £7.99 upwards.
For a small band from Wales the past few years has been a whirlwind and some hard times for the band but they have come back with a stronger than ever album with tight lyrics and riffs. Lets hope they continue this way!
Also seen on Ciao.. Under the same name
Summary: All in all a strong album
