A must have album for people who love this music

Napalm Death are undoubtedly one of Britain's most under-rated bands and are quite well appreciated abroad where genres like metal or grindcore are not so taboo. Plenty of bands have played hard and fast music in the same vein as them but no one in my opinion has done it as well and they are generally given credit for starting the whole racket! Influenced by bands like Swans, Dirty Rotten Imbeciles, Venom and Black Flag, Napalm Death create a unique sound deep from the bowels of Birmingham (well nearby Meridien), this is the early raw Napalm Death which went on to form Carcass and not the band that we know today as there has been several changes in line-up since then and not a single member remains the same.

If you don't like Grindcore or Death metal then stay away but this really is the ultimate album if you want to get into Grindcore. Scum is Napalm Death's debut album, recorded in 1987 and it races and roars through 28 tracks. The first half of the album was recorded for a mere 50 pounds in Rich Bitch studios and was supposed to be split with another band, the second part is done with a change to the band line-up.

If you want something pumped up, fast, dirty and loud - this is the album for you to get into Grindcore. In 2005, it was voted the 50th best British album ever by Kerrang readers and even if you are not into Grindcore but like Hardcore or Death Metal, it's definitely worth purchasing. This album was a groundbreaking record. The song "You Suffer" is in The Guinness Book of Records as the world's shortest song at 1:13.
