When you mention Toni Braxton to anyone, they think "that's the girl who sung Un-break My Heart", this is because it was and still is her biggest hit. The album "Secrets" in general is packed with slow ballads which you would Ms. Carey or Ms. Houston to be creating. Good, but in future I think she could possibly do more r and b tracks. To open the album, Toni lies down and chills out on "Come On Over". Not a particulary strong song, but a reasonable start. Next comes brilliant r and b swingin' song "You're Makin Me High". This is the first of 6 tracks produced by the legendary Babyface. Oh no, here it comes! Possibly the most emotion ballad on the album "There's No Me Without You" has been cleverly placed together, but is just too slow! "Un-Break My Heart" is again painfully slow, but much stronger. The remix (track 14) is well improved on. I have to admit though, Diane Warren has written the track perfectly. Toni seems to be muttering through the base of the song, but the chorus is perfectly controlled with brilliant vocals. Beyoncé Knowles eat your heart out! (The song is called "Talking In His Sleep") "How Could An Angel Break My Heart" is one more tenderly slow, but so much more pleasant. Kenny G is really the centre point however, playing his saxophone ever so fantastic! "Find Me A Man" is sung with the best emotion possible. Very sweet sounding, Next, comes “Let It Flow” which is once more delicately slotted neatly into the album line up. Toni keeps up her strong vocals, but it isn’t the best song off this so far exceptional album. After 5 ballads, Toni falls back into a stylish swing mood. This works with total effect, providing a simply wonderful track, “Why Should I Care”. “I Don’t Want To” was produced by R Kelly
in his slower days. It shares similar sounds to Michael Jackson’s “You Are Not Alone” and some of Aaliyah’s earlier work. All in all, the vocals are superb and the track itself is reasonably good. Toni has switched again into soul style. “I Love Me Some Him” may sound a bit weak at first, but the track bursts out many juicy flavours through thr 5 minutes it plays. For the last song, Toni chooses a quiet but immensely effective ballad, “In The Late Of Night”. It certainly gives off an illusion that you’re lying outside, staring at the stars.
After borrowing toni braxton-secrets off a friend, i decided to buy it. Toni braxton has a great voice i have found a lot of her songs have helped me through difficult stages in my life, the songs that meant a lot to me were unbreak my heart, theres no me without you,i dont want to,how could an angel break my heart and in the late of the night.I also have toni braxtons first album simply called toni braxton because of the first songs she brought out breath again and another sad love song.I would recommend all of her albums as they are really good. She sings songs about love, been hurt and feel good songs. The songs on the album are come on over here, you"re makin me high, there"s no me without you,un-break my heart, talking in his sleep, how could an angel break my heart, find me a man,let it flow, why should i care,i dont want to,i love me some him,in the late of the night, you"re makin me high(tempo mix),unbreak my heart(classic radio mix) and i dont want to(frankie knuckles radio edit) . I have found different emotians on both albums the emotians on the first were about been in love and been hurt by the person who you loved , the second album contains emotians such as despising a person , loving a person, been hurt by a person who meant the world to you and a lot of people can relate to the songs for instance un-break my heart for when a relationship breaks down.
I bought this album because I absolutely adored the song/s 'You're making me high', and 'Let it flow', the rest I found to be even more chilling. Toni is a R&B artist that flaunts her body and pouts her lips, but her voice is soothing and relaxing... no wonder the men love her eh? This album has the songs: Come on over here, You're making me high, There's no me without you, Un-break my heart, Talking in his sleep, How could an angel break my heart, Find me a man, Let it flow, Why should I care, I don't want to, I love me some him, and In the late of the night. This is a great album to play if you are winding down from a busy day or want to spend some time with your partner to get you in the mood. It's an album that will chill you out!
I love all of Toni's music, however I must wonder what happen to her. She was on the top of her game, then the Devilesh snairs of the music world seemed to swollow her up...she started to undress! Now Toni is one of the most gorgous woman in the buisness today, I mean..just image being married to her, I would never get any sleep cause I'de be to busy looking at her. I really do think, no I know she can still be on top of her game without taking off her clothes. MAY GOD BLESS YOU TONI. "Look towards the hills which cometh your help, all your help comes from the Lord"...Believe that!
