Premium Review Sessions For Robert J - Eric Clapton: Eric Clapton Salutes Robert Johnson (685 words)

Rating:

I rate this album as excellent because the guitarist pays homage to his hero, in his style, the musicianship is in my opinion without fault throughout. It is nice to see the Blues played with such energy and obvious enjoyment by all concerned. The only thing that could be a negative is that not all of Robert Johnsons songs have been covered by Eric Clapton yet and subsequentely presented as an album. Star Girl is good Some weaker songs in places. Seems rushed. Some weak vocals

The earliest commerically available recordings of Madonna, Madonna plays guitar on some tracks, Totally original material Remixes not as interesting (minor gripe!)

All About you, 5 colours, obviously etc etc Some weak songs that dont fit in with rest

Cool, jazzy, intimate feel - songs really take on a different tone "Highway to Hell" cover is unecessary and spoils the mood

Excellent songs, Includes some of Hans Zimmer's score Not enough Zimmer!

Ideal for collection of her great songs some good songs not present. Not a complete greatest hits

End Of The Beginning - Concerto Moon
Faithful to the studio material. Poor production and no surprises.

Uptown Festival - Shalamar
A couple of decent tunes Inconsistent

Melancholy - Iced Earth
Fine power ballads. Hides the band's more aggressive side, and covers are nothing special.

Terror on the High Seas - Battleheart
More energetic and powerful metal performance than the last E.P. Less material.

Slow Pertinacious Threnody On The Abnegation Of Succour - Arachnotaur
Effective, uncompromising drone doom. Tedious and static-laden, if you're not into that sort of thing.

B2K: The Remixes, Vol. 1 - B2K
Pop - Dance Pop - 2002

Remixes 2 Ep - B2K
Pop - Dance Pop - 2003

A Sombre Dance - Estatic Fear
Perfectly composed and executed symphonic doom metal. Twinkly keyboards are slightly irritating in Chapter VIII.

Got Purp?, Vol. 2 - Big Boi Presents
Highly varied Lots of interludes
