UFO: All the Hits & More

I recently listened to one of U UFO s most highly rated albums with Michael Schenker on guitar, the general concensus on Amazon was that it was far superior to the band s other work and as I didn t think a great deal to it, I almost gave up on the band altogether, just to check I wasn t missing out, I decided to give "All the Hits & More: the early years" a go, an album that is not even for sale in the UK for another 3 weeks despite being released last year in the USA. The band s spacey bluesy music from the late 60s is a real treat, not as hippyish as Uriah Heap, not as heavy as Sabbath or reliant on guitars as Zeppelin but a band with their own identity. ...
Phenomenon - UFO

Rating:
guitar solos by Schenker it s got all the ingredients of an awesome hard rock track that has haunted radio stations for years, play it loud and rock! UFO sound like a predecessor to Wolfmother on this album, there are numerous similarities from the pace of the songs through to the vocals. I have to say that I was pretty disappointed with this album as I feel the critics praising it as a hard rock classic are exagerrating, other than "Queen of the Deep" and "Rock Bottom" the album tends to have a softer folkier sound, almost like the Eagles but without the catchiness. I found Phil Mogg s vocals a bit whingey and the music far from the high octane ...
Obsession - UFO

Songs by: [songs predominantly by Mogg/Schenker/Way] Engineer- Mike Clink [later went on to produce Guns N Roses] This is a review of the 2008 Remaster. UFO are a largely underrated hard rock band from the 1970s, in many ways their name does them no favours, in the past making me think they would be quite naff being called that. I first heard the band properly about 2 years ago after seeing the name crop up constantly on lists of all time great rock albums [mostly in classic rock magazine]. This album, Lights Out and Force It seem to be the fan and critics choice. I went ahead and purchased Obsession as the classic 70s albums by the band had been ...
