Advantages: loads of great summery tunes
Disadvantages: a bad cover version
ATB's 'Seven Years' is an album which collects some of his best work, over a seven year period. Clever title aye? There are all the hits on here and also some gems which are worth drawing attention to.
Who is he:
Producer and DJ Andre Tanneberger delivers summery sounding music, with a dancefloor sensibility.
On this album:
You get the big singles including '9PM' which will always ignite any dancefloor and his pumping cover of Adamski's 'Killer.' There are also some lesser known singles. The wonderful 'Let You Go' has a superb riff in it which buries into the head and refuses to leave, it really should have been a bigger hit. I also love 'The Summer' which is like a newer version of '9PM' using that twangy guitar over a glorious dancebeat.
Other Highlights:
'Believe In Me' benefits from some rousing male vocals and is uplifting and spellbinding. 'Here With Me' has a haunting quality about it and vocals which go right through you. My recommendation is 'Marrakech' which is just magical. It transports you to desert planes and makes you think of holidays in Turkey and camel rides, simply stunning.
Weak Moments:
His cover of Olive's 'You're Not Alone' adds little to the original and comes in flat.
Overall:
A fine collection of summery sounding music, with excellent production and charm. More vocal tracks than his previous albums give it more of a commercial edge.
Summary: glorious
