Vii - At Vance
More fast and slow power metal with an even more substantial eighties touch.
Disappointing change of direction, with less focus on neoclassical guitars.
Yes: Expanded And Remastered - Yes
The first album by a great group
Its actually terrible.
Worlds Collide - Apocalyptica
'Last Hope' is good, thrashy, old-school Apocalyptica.
The band is all too happy to abandon its identity.
Time And A Word: Expanded And Remastered - Yes
Better than the first with some great relistenable tracks
The unique Yes style still not shown through
The Yes Album: Expanded And Remastered - Yes
A new line up with superstar Steve Howe and a new approach to songwriting
Sometimes it just doesn't work - this isn't 100% masterpiece
Fragile - Yes
Three seminal tracks, some of the most amazing playing you'll hear on record
The individual member solo pieces get in the way a bit
Fatherland - Ancient Rites
Surprising evolution to folk-influenced black metal, abandoning the silliness of earlier years.
Elements occasionally contradict.
Eclipse - Amorphis
Skilfully combines the band's disparate styles under a talented new singer.
Over-reliance on slow, gothic rock pieces becomes tiresome.
Dim Carcosa - Ancient Rites
Great guitars!
Strays too far from the heaviness and black metal of the band's earlier work.
Andiamo - Authority Zero
Successfully experimental punk rock, with incredible variety.
Most of the best elements are borrowed from earlier bands.
