This CD entitled 'Sheryl Crow' is the second offering from American blues rock singer Sheryl Crow. Her music has seen mixed success, and she seems to fade in and out of the limelight. Her tracks are often featured on soundtracks of such films as 'Cars' and 'Point Break'. This album was released in 1996, reaching the top 5 in the UK album charts. It features commercial hits such as 'Hard To Make A Stand' and 'If It Makes You Happy', and other more cult tracks such as the beautiful ballad 'Home'. These are the tracks: 1. Maybe Angels 2. A Change Would Do You Good 3. Home 4. Sweet Rosalyn 5. If It Makes You Happy 6. ... Read the complete review

Sheryl Crow - Sheryl Crow Released in 1996, OMG I feel so old, especially as my wife was just listening to this and it seemed pretty contemporary to me. Sheryl is 46, same age as me and this her 2nd album was released after some serious attention by the American music industry, some Grammies for her first album, and some 'out of step' political views in the States. Anyway, the album is what I am reviewing here, not the person. I am quite surprised that I like her music as it is a mix of country and American rock with a little 'bluesiness' thrown in, not my general tastes that's for sure, but I have to say, some of these songs are pretty ... I can see my circle of friends shrinking as I write about this. In all honesty I’d rather be introducing the world to the strange delights of bands like the Secret Chiefs 3 and Eden’s Plot but as DooYoo won’t let me add them I’m reduced to reminding the world that Sheryl Crow exists. So why am I reviewing a Sheryl Crow album? Well, it’s quite simple really – ages ago I lent this album to a friend, I forget which, who scratched sufficiently well for the CD to be unplayable. So when I had the chance to grab an mp3 copy of this album off my friend I leapt at the chance. However an mp3 copy isn’t as visible as one sitting in my CD ... Read the complete review

This is the massively successful Sheryl Crow album from the mid 90's, released around the same time as the also popular Jagged Little Pill from Alanis Morisette. Of course there was an ensuing fight to see who was the better of the two... Sheryl Crow has always been the better one, with a more consistent track record of excellent songs. She also has been much more the rock performer, providing great live performances and excellent rock music. I bought this album a little after it's initial release, and managed to secure the special edition with the extra cd of live recordings from the Sheperd Bush Empire. The special cd is actually really ... Read the complete review

To this day Sheryl Crow by Sheryl Crow, remains one of my favourite albums, it has the music I like most, it has really good songs, its by someone who writes their own songs and plays their own music, and the lyrics in music itself is about real things or situations, the music’s good, you can sing along, and so its pretty much everything I like in music. This album also has the distinction of being one of two albums that I have sat (or rather lay) down, in the dark with headphones on, listening to, admittedly at the time I was going through a rough patch (depression and such), but it really ‘exercised the demons’, but besides that its a really ...
