Yes, that's about right, long isn't it? Sounding deceptively mainstream at first, this all too soon descends into fairly impenetrable prog in the jazzy, jamming style of King Crimson, though the instrumentals in question - 'Pisser Dans un Violon' and 'Underwater' - are duller, longer and even less interesting than that other band at its most pretentio...more

Premium Review Shooting At The Moon - Kevin Ayers: The Lunatic Is In My Head (322 words)

Rating:

'Shooting at the Moon' was Kevin Ayers' second "solo" album, and the most coherent in terms of utilising an actual band (if not coherent in any other terms whatsoever). Ayers' improvised-sounding singing makes the softer songs reminiscent of early psychedelia from the likes of Arthur Brown, particularly his screaming performance in 'Lunatics Lament' which was by far my most enjoyed song here, while his guitar and bass are very nicely supplemented by the talents of David Bedford's keyboards, Lol Coxhill's sax and Mike Oldfield on lead guitar, being granted a very cool solo in the same song that lasts for longer than you would imagine. Products similar to Shooting At The Moon - Kevin A...

Classic Rock - 1991

Jazz-rock fusion for fans, with talented performances from Auger. Confused direction, and tedious.

Classic Rock - 1969

Classic Young without filler from his early years. Casual fans might prefer Decade or to cherrypick singles tracks.

Pleasant mix of doom and atmospheric rock without straying too far from Anathema's roots. Central songs lack individuality, and the whole thing may be too dull for some.

Interesting concept and some enjoyable prog metal for Ayreon fans. Feels like a derivative step backwards, and constrained by concept.

'The Adventure' is a pretty decent track. The rest of the album is incredibly dull.

Them - King Diamond
Fun horror movie heavy metal. Pretty daft.

The Collection - Kim Wilde
A good array of most of Kim Wilde's singles, good price usually, Some dated sounds and some later songs are missing.

Memory Almost Full - Paul McCartney
Brilliant album especially with the bonus DVD. Underrated.

It Won't Be Soon Before Long - Maroon 5
Some promising moments An altogether forgettably bland album

Hits & Rarities - Sheryl Crow
Pop Rock - 2007

Falling Into You - Celine Dion
Beautiful voice and lots of great songs. Not one for metalheads!!!

Ear Drum - Talib Kweli
Great lyrics No great beats

Easy Tiger - Ryan Adams
A host of excellent, beautifully performed songs, as ever. Feels more like a rarities round-up than a "proper" record.

Good Girl Gone Bad - Rihanna
Shows a lot of potential I'm sure she's more interesting than this album
