Advantages: Track 7 being fantastic, Chris Wolstenhulme being very fit indeed (but that's not why I like them... honest!!)
Disadvantages: None, it's all good
I first heard of Muse only about a year ago, when a very good friend of mine let me borrow a cd of ColdPlay with some of Muse’s finest songs recorded on the end. Cheers Saint Gertrude! You’re responsible for me now being a huge fan of Muse…
I’ve never got round to seeing them live, but I’d love to go to one of their gigs. I’ve heard they put on a fantastic show, even if it is slightly unoriginal! But then again they are a typical guitar band so what do you expect??
Showbiz is a fine album. Full stop.
There is an ongoing theme with most of the tracks: a heavy background of bass and drums is nicely matched with the haunting voice of Matthew Bellamy. But because the main vocals are sung by the same guy all the time, the tracks can sometimes sound a bit repetitive… but at least there’s no mistaking who they are!
It would take far too long to talk about all of the tracks in this album… and anyone reading would probably get a bit bored. So I’ll just tell you about my favourite songs:
1) Track 2 - Muscle Museum
I love the catchy guitar rhythm on this one. Lyrics are a bit weird but the overall effect is fantastic in my opinion, so who cares about the sodding lyrics!!
2) Track 3 - Fillip
To be honest, I don’t really know anything about the lyrics on this one. I just think it’s a very dramatic song. I like the contrast between slow melody and heavy guitar.
3) Track 6 - Showbiz
This track has a thudding heartbeat, which has quite a drastic effect. When I first bought the album this was probably my least favourite song; but now I love it!
4) Track 7 - Unintended
This is definitely my all time favourite Muse song. It’s pretty slow which is nice for a change and Matt’s voice is quite ethereal. Whenever I listen to it, it sends a shiver right up my spine and honestly I think that was probably the intended effect. It somehow reminds me
slightly of being in a church (and I’m not at all religious!!) I once had a dream about a ghost, which was really weird and that song featured in it, so now when I hear it, it always reminds me of that freaky dream!!!
Anyway, that’s enough of me harping on. No arguments… buy the album. I guarantee there to be at least one track, which you’ll love!!
By the way, I also love their new song. But I haven’t bought the new album yet. It’s right up there on the top of my Christmas list along with The Best of the Backstreet Boys!!!! I just hope they won’t now become too commercialised, that would ruin them I think and them being on Top of the Pops was the first sign. Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Oh yeh… Chris Wolstenhulme is F*CKING GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
