While Prince did cover many genres with this truly eclectic album, and did do most of them well, their are a few slight filler tracks here. 'Hot Thing' and 'Housequake' being the most obvious in my mind. While they had the potential to be great funk numbers they fall short. 'Hot Thing' really reminds me of a bad James Brown parody. On disc two the only song that could be considered filler is maybe 'Its A Beautiful Night' that just comes of as somehow stupid from Prince, but at the same time is fun an enjoyable every once in a while so all is not bad. I remember the excitement over Prince in 1987, the Sign o the Times film was on at the Dominion Theatre in Tottenham Court Road, a huge billboard poster of Prince adorning the roof, with a massive queue outside. He was huge at the time and, judging from the concert footage released on video, it was an amazing live tour. This track is then followed by the ... Read the complete review

Ok, so I know that Prince (oops sorry! The artist formerly known as Prince) is a bit old school but I honestly feel that his music is still relevant nowadays. Sure he is a bit of a loony, with all the symbol stuff/media p*ss take stunts and all but the music speaks for itself and personally I dont mind my rock stars a bit on the kooky side. Sign Of The Times (the album and the soundtrack) is one of my favourite Prince albums. It's jammed packed with songs that have had so much radio time over the years that I defy anyone to not know at least a few of the words to most of the songs! It's got the title track 'Sign of the times', 'Slow Love', 'If I was your ... Read the complete review
