Advantages: The band is good (minus Fred's rapping)

Disadvantages: Fred's rapping

Now I’ll tell you right now that Limp Bizkit is not one of my favorite bands. Now before I start I would like to say that Limp Bizkit has some great beats and riffs on this song. Wes Borland is one of my favorite guitarists and John Otto is a great drummer. But there’s Fred Durst.... Awwww poor little Fred Durst. Now I’m not a big fan of Rap/Rock but that doesn’t mean I won’t give it a shot. I remember when Limp Bizkit was a somewhat hardcore band and now they are teeny pleasers. Fred Durst almost completely changed his style and now the whole band has to suffer. I like all the members of the band. Even Fred isn’t that bad, but when a two foot white guy acts like he can kick anyone’s ass it gets pretty old (and sad).
Now this album really isn’t that bad, some songs are even good if you can believe it. It’s just that when Fred doesn’t do a good job rapping, I’m sorry for all those Limp Bizkit fans.

Track 1: Intro
Now this is the first album I covered that had a introduction and not a song. I rate intros on how original and interesting they are. The overall production on this intro really isn’t that good. It has a sloppy beat and a voice that has been slowed down to distortion. This intro lasts 32 seconds and really doesn’t do anything for me. Score: 1

Track 2: Just like this
Now the first real song on this album really doesn’t lift me up. Even though the riffs are really good. Ahhh God bless Wes Borland. Fred sounds like a muppet in this track. The verses are all rap and he sings through the chorus. Now I really like Fred when he sings. He sounds much better than when he raps. The song really isn’t about anything and is rather mediocre. Fred really doesn’t scream much in this song but he does elevate his voice a little. The rap doesn’t really do anything for me. Now don’t get me wrong I like rap, in fact I will do a review on
a real rap album real soon. Score: 2

Track 3: Nookie
Now this song starts out with one of the catchiest riffs I’ve ever heard. The drumming is great and goes great with the riffs and through the whole songs. Once again the rap lyrics aren’t really that good but they are a big improvement from the last song. The chorus is also done well, Fred is almost screaming and it sounds like half of a hardcore song. At one point the rapping stops and the song slows down. Then it just escalates and that part of the song is rather berserk and cool. One of the two new generation Limp Bizkit songs I like on this album. Score: 4

Track 4: Break stuff
This is the second new generation Bizkit song I like. The riffs are very simple but they are done so well. The drumming is also good and goes well with Fred’s rap. Now I don’t really like the lyrics on this song. They lack any depth and I’m afraid to say it but I could do it too. The only part of the vocals that I like is when Fred goes into that chainsaw bit and then begins screaming “give me something to break”. That was a rather exciting part of the song. Once again I don’t like it when Fred tries to be a hardcore rapper. Score: 4

Track 5: Rearranged
This song is pretty damn good. It goes rather slow and Fred isn’t treathing anyone. So basically it’s not a Bizkit-esqe song. Fred is pretty soothing on this track and he just does such a good job singing. The chorus is very good and the verses are also sung well. The lyrical content is also very different. He’s talking about letting go of a bad girlfriend. The best part of the song is when everything slows down and then explodes. For those of you who saw the music video it’s when they are in the milk chamber. The riffs are just incredible there and the vocals are also great (I think I even heard some screaming in the background). There is also some great mixing at the end,
which is provided by DJ Lethal. I feel that this is the best song on the album. Score: 5

Track 6: I’m broke
Now after hearing the last song I was pretty impressed with Limp’s potential. Unfortunately the next song is a step down. Actually it’s as if the elevator came crashing down. Now this song starts off with a hardcore riff then Fred the muppet starts to rap over it. Again he thinks that he’s Hulk. Here he is complaining about his friends taking his money and leaving. Well then don’t lend them money fool. The only good part of the song is about two minutes in the song. That part actually sounds like a hardcore song. But still that part doesn’t make up for the rest of the song. Score: 2

Track 7: Nobody like you
This is another song that I think is good. It features Jonathon Davis from Korn. His presence really isn’t felt until the second verse. Fred Durst is singing through the whole song, he does a great job on the chorus. It’s a very catchy chorus. The riffs are really great especially during the chorus. Again there is a slowdown during the song and then it just explodes. The drumming is great in this part and when the song explodes it just rocks! There is hardcore screaming over the relatively calm chorus. Score: 5

Track 8: Don’t go off wandering
This song really isn’t that bad. It’s a slow and calming song. Fred is rather sentimental with this one. He is rapping, unfortunately, but it isn’t the annoying “I’m going to punch you in the face” rap. He is letting out his pain in this one which he doesn’t really do in this album. The song really doesn’t explode even though it tries to get pumped up. Wes does a great job with the riffs. It’s sentimental but heavy as well, an average song though. Score: 3

Track 9: 9 teen 90 nine
This song starts off with a great riff and drumming. The rap in this song
is mediocre but the chorus is good. The chorus is heavy and loud. The drumming is good throughout the song. As are the guitars. Again the around the middle of the song it slows down and then explodes again. That part of the song is good because Fred is somewhat still screaming. Unfortunately the rest of the song kind of blows. Score: 2

Track 10: n together now
All I have to say is thank God Method man is on this track! Score: 3

Track 11: Trust?
This song starts off with a great riff and drumming. Fred is rapping but this type of rap is heavy and hardcore. The riffs make this song great and Fred is actually rapping hard. Unfortunately the ruff part of the song stops and the song seems like Muppets in Space. The middle of song gets really corny and even if the song gets loud again it still doesn’t make up for the last minute of Durst cr@p. Score: 3

Track 12: No sex
This beginning of the song starts off with promise. Fred isn’t punching anyone but again he’s talking about that woman who burned him. Now the reason I don’t really like this song is because it’s kind of boring. And it does kind of contradict “Nookie”. In this song he’s saying he should’ve kept his pants on and in “Nookie” he’s saying it’s all for the Nookie, for those of you who don’t know: Nookie means sex. The chorus is good but there really isn’t anything else. Score: 2

Track 13: Show me what you got
Now I like this song for the reason that it’s an original concept. He’s thanking people on a track. But the first verse is kind of stupid; he was mentioning the different cities he was in. The only vocals I like is the pre chorus when he screams “get the F--k up”. The second verse is pretty cool when he is thanking actual people. It’s an interesting concept. Score: 3

Track 14: A lesson learned
This song starts off r
eal slow and really is well sung. The drumming and bass are real good. The song is real good. Fred’s voice is real soothing. The echo effect that follows Fred’s voice is a nice touch. This is a real nice ending but unfortunately it’s not the end a stupid outro follows. Score: 4

Track 15: Outro
This outro follows the same beat and vocals as the intro. Once again it’s really stupid. However if you haven't shut off your CD or tape player you’ll hear Matt Pinfield. He is really angry and he is ranting about pop music. This is a funny scene and he says exactly what I am thinking. That’s a cool ending. Score: 3

So Limp Bizkit’s second album is a tad uninspired. If there wouldn’t have been the stupid rap this album would be a good one. Now this album is a decent one and fans of Rap/Rock will enjoy it. So if you like that kind of teeny rock such as Kid Rock, Korn, and Papa Roach then definitely pick this one up because you will like it.

Quality review...limp bizkit seem to have gone from bad to worse with chocolate starfish, finding a formula that sells and sticking to it...which is SO dissappointing as $100 bill y'all was alright. damn them!

Good review, nice to see a review that covers the good and bad sides of an album, too few (including all of mine) opinions seem to do more than say an album is great/terrible.
