One of the earliest CD releases from the Elvis specialist record label FTD was called OUT IN HOLLYWOOD and featured alternate takes of songs that Elvis Presley sang in some of his films. The CD was very well received and so the label followed it up with this CD, SILVER SCREEN STEREO. The CD features 70 minutes of material, over 26 tracks. Again, these are all alternate takes from songs whose master recordings are available on other CDs, but the treat of this album is hearing Elvis and his musicians working through the material until they reach the final version. Good songs included on the disc are SUMMER KISSES, WINTER TEARS and I GOT LUCKY, amongst others. My only word of warning is that this disc does show Elvis off as having been a real person - you often hear general chitchat from the studio musicians in between the songs and yes, horror of horrors, you do get to hear Elvis say a swear word every now and then. Nothing wrong with that, as I say he was a real person, but you might not want to play the album with young people listening (or even grandparents for that matter!).
