Blue - Simply Red

Rating:
I love Simply Red , and Mick Hucknall s voice is amazing so i brought this album looking forward to hearing some great music. Though the majority of the album is good, some of it is, well, let s just say not as good as i expected. Here is my marks out of ten for each track. 1 Mellow My Mind 3/10 - Slow start to the album. 2 Blue 5/10 - Get s a bit better, i like it, but not the best track. 3 Say You Love Me 8/10 - One of the best track s on the album, very mellow and soulfuul. 4 To Be Free 2/10 - Not my favourite/ 5 Air That I Breathe 8/10 - A great cover version, i really like this song. 6 Some Day In My Life 4/10 - Nice song. 7 Air That I Breathe (2) 6/10 - ...

A New Flame - Simply Red
by benlepensive - written on 27/02/09 (Very useful, 6 readings)
Rating:
Now this is what I call an essential album. From the arty front cover, right down to the moment the album closes, you can be assured of a rewarding listening experience. They seem to have gone rather quiet of late, so sticking this album on never fails to put me in a chirpy mood. Who are they: UK based pop group, with soulful vocalist Mick Hucknall delivering the tunes. Highlights: I always found 'It's Only Love' quite mysterious sounding, with Hucknall's vocals verging on the creepy, yet not too sinister. It is a good start to the album and the tune will go round in your head for a while afterwards. More lively is 'A New Flame' in ...

Home - Simply Red

Rating:
Home was released by Simply Red in March 2003 after a long awaited absence after their previous album in 1999(Love and the Russian Winter). Although there was Its only Love released in November 2000, this was a compilation of love songs. The title of the album is apt as it was recorded at Mick Huchnalls own home where he has a recording studio. It was also a gamble. Simply red had departed with their previous record label East west records after a relationship of 15 Years. Huchnall was keen to go back to simply reds roots and Love and the Russion Winter was not an album the band felt passion for but simply something the record company had wished them to do. This was ...
