"Hay wrap wasn't written, it was collected. All we had to do was listen. The rhythm of the song isn't far from the rhythm of the baling machine, and the chorus is what the lads shout while they're working" - Leo Moran. It has some very Irish music - imagine the scene where Jack and Rose are dancing in Titanic! And the rhythm of the mus...more

Crowned Review Sing A Powerful Song - The Saw Doctors: It's time to sing, it's time to sing, to sing a powerful son ... (2548 words)
by - written on 22/01/08 (Very useful, 429 readings)
Rating:

The Saw Doctors hail from Ireland and consist of: Davy Carton; vocals and guitars Leo Moran; guitars and vocals Pearse Doherty; bass guitar, vocals and whistle (yes a whistle!) John Donnelly; drums and vocals This album also has Derek Murray on keyboards, accordion, guitar and banjo! Also a variety of people playing instruments such as mandolin, hammond organ, synthesisers, accordion, saxophone and percussion! This should give you an idea that this music is real music with plenty of instruments - something a bit different to the norm! The 17 songs on this album come from the Saw Doctors first three albums to be ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Best Thing Since Guinness (807 words)

Rating:

Top ten reviews, most of us have tried them, with varying results – books, albums, bands, authors, etc. My personal nadir was ‘top ten albums’. Two hours work carefully assembling my list of favourite albums, which achieved an incredible twelve reads. All ‘very useful’ admittedly, but what was probably worse was the fact that most of the comments were from reviewers who said they’d never heard of any of them, for example: “Blimey, not heard of a single one of those.. :) Ok, maybe the beatles rings a bell.. but.. hmm.. - Well done anyway, you get a smiley face for effort.” So I’ve decided to ...  Read the complete review

Lots None

Accomplished. Atmospheric. Evocative. Stunning vocals. None to speak of.

The title track is magnificent, Closer 'Mississippi' is also pretty darn fine Little or nothing else of interest on offerFrustrating hints of potential revealed but generally not realised

Balls To Picasso - Bruce Dickinson
Great work from Dickinson and Roy Z, interesting cross-genre experiments. Dickinson raps in 'Sacred Cowboys.' He actually raps.

Cowboy Bebop - Soundtrack
Brilliantly constructed piece of work none

Deicide - Deicide
Significant death metal entry. Nothing too special musically.

Legion - Deicide
Angrier, heavier. All songs sound similar.

Lightning To The Nations (the White Album) - Diamond Head
Excellent album - a true classic None whatsoever

Scars Of The Crucifix - Deicide
Angry again. Robotic.

Score - Dream Theater
Over 2.5 hours of progressive rock magic, perfect playing and fairly good set list Little crowd interaction, the orchestra are disappointing, some odd song choices

Serpents Of The Light - Deicide
Another solid entry in the Deicide canon. Lacks variety.

Flavors Of Entanglement - Alanis Morissette
A great album with some cracking songs Depends what your taste in music is like
