Voodoo Lounge - Rolling Stones
not very impressed (172 words)by - written on 22/03/01
Rating:
is one of The Stones' worst studio recordings. Out of 15 cuts on the album only 5 or 6 are what I would call keepers. It just doesn't have that edge that other Stones albums have. Their swagger doesn't show through here except for the first 3 cuts, 'I Go Wild', 'Brand New Car', and 'Mean ...
Undercover - Rolling Stones
by himynameistriss - written on 13/11/07 (Useful, 64 readings)
Rating:
Before writting this review, I must make my position clear. I think The Rolling Stones are the greatest band of all time, however I have tried to make this review as objective as possible. Undercover was The Rolling Stone s 3rd studio album of the 1980s. It was released in 1983 and contains just two singles, Undercover Of The Night and She Was Hot . Nether were massive singles, and also broke a string of eight number 1 studio albums, only reaching number 3 in the UK. The Rolling Stones tried to reinvent themselves. It contains standard rock numbers, dance numbers, and even a free style Jagger rap, on the track Too Much Blood . Fans and critics are split on this ...
Their Satanic Majesties Request - The Rolling Stones
by cswann - written on 03/10/00 (Very useful, 198 readings)
Rating:
This is The Rolling Stones record you'd do best to avoid. Probably the only one from the 60s or the 70s. It's not that it's bad, really - but it's very uncharacteristic. Be ready for an aimless mish-mash of psychedelia, rather than the gutsy Rhythm and Blues that the Stones perform so well. Straight away, the opening song gives us a clue as to what went wrong. It sounds like the Beatles. The Stones were obviously very influenced by what the Beatles were doing (like everyone else at that time, following the release of "Sgt.Pepper"). Overall, "Their satanic majesties", like "Sgt.Pepper" also sounds like a concept album ...

New Beginnings Of Old Stories - 4ft Fingers
The album is fun to listen to, the tracks strong to sing along to.
All of the bands other albums are a lot better, the tracks all lack passion.
Ven - Eluveitie
Interesting dominance of folk instruments.
Brief, and the metal performance is uninspired.
Superheroes - Edguy
5 tracks that didn't go no album, change of style, Tobias Sammet
None
Beyond Hell - GWAR
Competent modern thrash.
No original ideas, and too much focus on the daft lyrics.
Scumdogs Of The Universe - GWAR
Creative crossover-thrash, with a few genuinely funny lyrics here and there.
Still pretty stupid.
Awaking The Gods: Live In Mexico - Haggard
Highlights of the first two albums, performed impeccably.
Pre-emptive, and annoying crowd noise.
Blessed Black Wings - High On Fire
Heavy and fast stoner doom.
Repetitive song styles.
Blessings From A Blackened Sky - The Sorrow
The bands members are quite talented.
A lack of passion in the sound, no personality whatsoever put across in the music.
Universe In Reverse - Infadels
From The Cradle To The Brave - Highland Glory
Great Power Metal with a twist
couple of weaker tracks on album
