Yet another flash from the 80's - who doesn't remember watching Sixteen Candles when they play "True" at the high school dance? Or dancing to the song themselves!? This cd includes just about every memorable song Spandau Ballet ever put out and brings back a lot of memories of those days. Some of these were actually surprises that I didn't realise were performed by them, but most of them are staples. There are also a few "filler" songs on here - ones that I don't exactly remember being hits. Regardless, this is a good choice for anyone who liked this scene then. ... Read the complete review

I bought this album in a sale in a music shop when I hardly knew anything about Spandau Ballet. However when I got home and put it on I was pleasantly surprised. This album contains an outstanding mixture of all of Spandau Ballets greatest songs, such as 'Gold', 'True', 'Only When You Leave' and 'To Cut A Long Story Short'. They are compelling to listen to, and I was playing this album over and over again. This album is a true 80s classic, typically in the style of new romantics and is very original and distinctive. A must buy for any 80s music fans. ... Read the complete review

When I got The Singles Collection it was particially a joke, as a friend of mine is a perpetual new romantic and still listens to the group whenever he gets the opportunity. However this is a fabulous album - no humour required. Fifteen tracks, including popular classics such as "True", "To Cut a Long Story Short" and "Gold" (a track still heard upon a regular basis, especially around sporting events). It is a compilation which passes easily. You can put it on and before you know it there is silence where it has ended - for me a good sign as there is nothing so terrible that you have to immediately turn it off. ...
