Advantages: its amazing, rarer songs on, state of love and trust and birth ritual

Disadvantages: erm...its not that well known

The Singles soundtrack is possibly THE best soundtrack EVER, especially if you're into the grunge scene, firstly it has the best grunge bands on ever, and manages to bypass Nirvana which is an achievement in itself.

The film itself is a bit pants, especially compared to its soundtrack, but its saving grace is the music that is played in the background....and it is quite funny.

The first track is "Would?" by Alice in Chains, an amazing song by an amazing band, and if you're already a fan of this band you'll definately know this song, but if you don't know them then after you know this song you'll soon become a fan.

The next song is "Breath" by another classic grunge group, Pearl Jam. I am a huge fan of Pearl Jam so them being on this soundtrack is a huge bonus, and this song is amazing, but not as amazing as "State of Love and Trust" (track 8) which is my favourite Pearl Jam song EVER and is only available on this album (yet another reason to buy this album...you get songs that are only available from these bands on this album)

The next track is Seasons by Chris cornell (the lead singer of Soundgarden) and this song is amazing too, it shows his amazing vocal abilities and song writing skills. Wicked!

The next song is "Dyslexic heart" by Paul westerberg, which is a really catchy love song. aaaah. Lovely.

The next song is Battle of Evermore by the Lovemongers, another wicked song, to be honest there isn't a dud song on this soundtrack, each song is amazingly good (and I can see my excessive use of the word amazing, but it really is neccessary when reviewing this album)

The next song is "Chloe dancer/Crown of thorns" by MotherLoveBone (the band before Pearl Jam...and then Andrew Wood the lead singer died and later Pearl Jam were born, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament were in MLB...sorry...quick digression there) Anyway this is the mould
ing of two songs together, and its WICKED, its really nice and soothing Lovely.

The next song is Birth Ritual by Soundgarden. This sees Soundgarden going back to their roots, its more like the metal stuff from Badmotorfinger, its wicked, it sees chris cornell screaming like a mother. Lovely. One of my faves on the album.

"State of Love and Trust" by Pearl Jam is the next song, and I have already talked about this, it is THE best song in the world EVEr....well one of them. I thoroughly reccommend getting this album just for this song, although the other songs are amazing too, but this is just supreme. Get it.

Mudhoney follow with "overblown" another classic grunge song, its wicked listening to them belt this out. Lovely.

Paul Westerberg reappears next with Waiting for Somebody, this is another catchy love song, hes good at them, its wicked.

Jimi Hendrix the daddy of Seattle sound is next with "May this be love". Aaaah. its another lovely song. This album is wicked as it has a mix of rocking tunes but then some really nice soothing tunes. Aaah. This makes this album even better.

Next is the Screaming Trees with "Nearly lost you" they didn't nearly lose me though 'cos this album has the power to keep your attention all the way through from its sheer amazingness...this song is wicked.

The album ends with The Smashing Punpkins "Drown", ending on a chilled note. Drown is one of The Smashing Pumpkins quieter efforts which ends the album perfectly. aaah.

All in all words cannot express the love that I have for this album, maybe my love is magnified because I am such a big fan of most of the bands on this album and of the Seattle Sound in general, but I really would reccommend it to everyone, I have lent it to friends who don't like grunge and they have all loved it, it really is the prefect album, it has the right mix of songs on to make it a
prefect album to chill out to, but also to dance to, its wicked....I reccommend it to all, especially people who are fans of any of the bands on it as the rare songs make it all the more worthwhile.

A good soundtrack, yes. Gives a pretty good feel for the early 80's Seattle vibe. But the best ever? Not quite.
