Star Trek: First Contact - Soundtrack

Crowned Review ST VIII: Elegiaco largamente (1297 words)
by berlioz II - written on 06/12/07 (Very useful, 129 readings)
Rating:

It is interesting to note how Star Trek has evolved over the years from being a fairly campy TV series that was not successful enough on its first outing to last even through its initial five year mission, to gathering such a strong cult following to eventually manage to spin out a horde of feature films (both exceptionally good and equally bad) and no less than four spin-off series (and cartoon series) in later life. With the films up until the sixth installment being still the playing ground for the old crew of the Enterprise, the shock switch to the Next Generation crew's feature film life via the uneven TV episode masking as a feature film, Generations, was seen as the perfect ...

Star Trek: Generations - Soundtrack

Crowned Review ST VII: Intermezzo (Largo ordinario) (1280 words)
by berlioz II - written on 30/11/07 (Very useful, 124 readings)
Rating:

After Star Trek VI put an end to the original crew features in 1991, it was only a matter of time before the Next Generation people entered their movie phase. This was finally accomplished in 1994 as The Next Generation TV series was cancelled and the whole franchise was about to go through a major revamping, which may also have been partly influenced by the new Star Trek series Deep Space Nine that started out in 1993, making it necessary to stop the older show from hogging the spotlight or using the money better spent on the newer series. The Next Generation TV series, to all intents and purposes, saw its final end with the Generations feature film. Star Trek: Generations (this time ...

Star Trek V - Soundtrack

Crowned Review ST V: Allegro barbaro ma non troppo (1342 words)
by berlioz II - written on 20/11/07 (Very useful, 115 readings)
Rating:

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier came out in 1989 and was highly anticipated by fans, especially since the last three Trek films had been such successes and The Next Generation TV series (airing since 1987) had also been gaining in popularity with mainstream audiences. Directed by William Shatner, this would be the first original crew feature in the new Enterprise-A, filled with religious mysticism, Klingons and a misguided Vulcan in search of Eden, Shangri-La, or whatever other names were given in the film. So everything seemed to be in order; alas, the film was a great disappointment. It fared extremely badly and has been often called the worst Star Trek movie ever. It simply does not ...
