Taking its name from the band's home state, "Iowa" came as the second album from the Alternative Metal band SlipKnot in 2001. The band, who had a largely unchanged line-up this time when compared to what was seen with their 1999 debut, come with more hardcore Nu-Metal, and do so during the peak years of the sub-genres duration in the ... After the amazing shot up to success, Slipknot were left reeling in disbelief. But as soon as there final tour finished, they were under orders to get back into the groove of what would be the difficult second album. Joey Jordison and Paul Gray (Drummer & Bassist), Took full control and wrote virtually all the songs listed on ... Read the complete review

This album is by far the worst slipknot album to date. The album does not try to take a new direction, and all of it sounds like there is no inspiration behind it at all. However there are a few standout songs that show that slipknot are still the kings of nu metal, such as "people = sh**" , "the heretic anthem" and ... Read the complete review

One of the best metal accomplishiments of all time - Advantages: If you like hard rock and or heavy metal, you would have to be a retard or a poser to say anything negative about this album. From the intro which sounds like it was recorded in a serial killers basement, and the insane drums in people=shit, all the way pass new abortion. The insane talent of the band doesn't stop. - Disadvantages: there are no disadvantages

Slipknot, are a funny bunch of musicians. They dress up in spooky costumes and generally look like a serial killer convention rather than a band. "Iowa" is the bands second album and was described by music critics as; "Sounding like the Beatles White Album played backwards by serial killers in an abbatoir". The band writes ... If you aren't a fan of the first album, your probably not going to like this either as Slipknot have advanced from self titled 1999 album with yet more hatred, anger and pain, hey kids.....its Slipknot! What can i say about Iowa that hasn't already been criticised/boasted about already, the album proved that metal fans are on the ... Read the complete review

This album stormed the album charts in 2001 just through the sheer rush to get a copy of the massive new Slipknot Alum, Iowa. Now I did indeed get my self a copy of this album and that’s why I’m here now reviewing it to tell you about it! This album is different from their second album Slipknot – Slipknot, it is much ... This album has to be the most eagerly awaited albums of 2001 the follow up to the mighty self titled album of 1999 – 2000. Now I actually own this album and have listened to it a fair amount, well quite a lot! At the start I though that this album was not that good, but now the caricature of the songs are building on me and I am beginning to ... Read the complete review

For years, common perception of the American State of Iowa meant little more than a lot of big fields of wheat. All too long thought of as the epitome of small-town America (until recently, one of its main claims to fame was playing home to none other than Smallville, quiet little hometown of Christopher Reeves' Superman), it was left until ... One thing that i haven't understood about the music industry is the large amount of this nu metal sh**e that has appeared. Out go classic rock styles of solos and talent and in come crap guitar and screaming bullshit. But the worst the pinnicle worst of this new music 'revolution' is Slipknot, at least other bands such as ... Read the complete review

Slipknot now it seems are the quintessential rock band of the new millennium and, have earned themselves a formidable army of rebellious teenagers hell bent on wrecking society, I am happy to say, I am "one of them"! Well the Iowa 9 certainly have jumped leaps and bounds since there last album. This album you can tell is much more profesional than their last with harder hitting drum beats and catchy if not strange lyrics e.g. "people make noises when theyre sick" and "if your 555 then i'm 666". It is a 14 track album which starts off in track one of a man ... Read the complete review

Slipknot's Iowa is anything but a warm tribute to the alternative metal band's birth state: Guitars go off like firing squads; rhythms spit and grind with nightmarish hostility; and gravelled vocals set off a relentless, spleen-venting clamor. Home, it would seem, is not so sweet after all. Recalling the dark protestations of ... Read the complete review
