SLIPWAY FIRES is the title of British indie rock band RAZORLIGHT's album. The album consists of 12 tracks. The opening song WIRE TO WIRE is a powerful song with impressive vocals that are aided by wonderful instrumental support and positive lyrics. HOSTAGE OF LOVE is a fast paced track which accompanies quick melodies that are supported by the vocals. The chorus is one you can sing along with. YOU AND THE REST is a fun song with lyrics that tell a good story. The energy from the guitar is particulalry evident in adding an edge to the song. TABLOID LOVER is my favourite song on the album with it's great energy and clever ... Read the complete review

The brand new album from Razorlight and most definitley the best to date, the stunningly haunting 'Wire To Wire' introducing the third album, 'Slipway Fires'. Very much a an acoustic style sounding album this sounds like a stripped down version of Razorlight, with simple riffs leading songs like 'Hostage of Love' Whilst 'Tabloid Lover' is more of the commercial style of upbeat song that reminds me of songs like 'Golden Touch' but a bit more pacey. 'Stinger' to me stands out as the spotlight song in terms of its power, the raw passion in the vocals and almost waltz feel to the beat is fantastic. 'The House', 'Blood For Wild Blood' & '60 ... Razorlight (a London band) got together in 2002. The band are made up of Singer/guitarist Johnny Borrell and guitarist/singer and Swedish ex-pat Björn Ågnen, bassist Carl Dalemo and drummer Christian Smith-Pancorvo. Recordings made at London's Toe Rag studios eventually led to radio play which helped begin the spreading of attention for this band. They were eventually signed to Mercury Records 2003. They set about recording their debut album, whilst touruing and doing lots of gigs. Reports were great for nearly all their live performances and the hype about this band began to mount. Although some of the original members of the ... Read the complete review

I've been a fan of razorlight since the first album, with their music having the ability to be both catchy and quite rocky at the same time. The first album with the likes of "golden touch" and "somewhere else" was absolutely brilliant, the second album too was pretty good with them in my opinion refining their sound. The third album for me is a total flop, i was pretty excited when i heard that razorlight were releasing a new album, and when i bought it got it home to listen and found that all the songs seemed to be mid paced piano ballad tracks, which were fairly lack luster compared to their earlier music, songs like wire to wire are ... Razorlight have the ability to craft great songs and then consistently underwhelm you with their albums. The first two songs on this album are great. When I first heard Wire to Wire on the Radio it nearly took my breath away, and even many plays down the road it still has the ability to bring out the goosebumps in the right circumstances. Hostage of Love is another great track, but then as with Razorlight's other efforts the rest of the tracks are just 'OK'. Tabloid lover and North London Trash probably top the bill as best of the rest, but in all honesty when I had this CD in my car I'd often find myself playing the first two tracks and then switching to something more ...
