Just ok (Slipway Fires - Razorlight)
Member Name: liamb71
Advantages: 'Wire to wire' Disadvantages: A bit soporific I really do not know what to make of Johnny Borrell. When Razorlight burst onto the scene with the likes of 'Rip it Up' and 'Stumble and Fall', this swaggering front man looked like he intended to be the next Liam Gallagher. Two albums later, he sounds more Rory Gallagher. That's not to say that this is a bad album - I must have listened to 'Wire to Wire' tens of times without getting bored of it, and the rest of the album has plenty to admire in terms of sound and lyrics. However it is also the kind of material which would be lapped up by your average Radio 2 listener, which does not really tally with what he seemed to think he was all about a very short time ago. Buy it, enjoy it for what it is, a nicely crafted slab of easy listening, but don't expect to be blown away by it. Summary: Do not discount, but don't expect too much! |
