... guitar playing and a hard rocking edge. Harmony vocals add to a classic rock tune. Very catchy and a great number. 'Armour and Sword' finds its way to a gentle and emotional sound through acoustic guitars and meandering bass-lines, until its heavy chorus marches on, beating along to your own beat. "No one gets to their Heaven without a fight." 'Workin' them Angels' hammers along in an acoustic build up before grinding along to a crescendo. "Memory drumming at the heart of an English winter..." This band have been prominent in my life since my early teens and they have walked with me from that age to where I am now, in the background whilst I began working and when I discovered beer and sex; watching on whilst I married and had kids and holding my hand when the marriage fell through and I got divorced. Sounds corny, I know, but I guess everyone has that own special band that they have loved for years and years... 'Snakes and Arrows' is Rush's first since 2002. Now, I know for a fact that there will always be people who say, 'Rush? Who/what the hell is that?' Well... Rush were formed in 1969, Toronto, Canada. Their first album was the self titled ...  Read the complete review

'Rush' anno 2007 - 'Snakes & Ladders', a potpourri of Rock a la traditional themes dear to die hard fans, 'Far Cry', 'Workin' Them Angels' to instrumental workouts like the, yet again, Grammy-nominated, 'Malignant Narcissism', and the Alex Lifeson solo guitar piece, 'Hope' to relative new territory in 'The Larger Bowl' or 'Bravest Face'. As usual, something for everyone who takes the time to find their own personal 'pearl of great price' hidden amongst possible leftovers from past sessions, or simply sub-standard efforts to what 'Rush' fans have grown accustomed to hearing. Does that make this a sub-par work by our Northern Greats? No, its more like comparing ...  Read the complete review

Finally - after some anticipation built up by not only a Rush in Rio Live album, the R30 Anniversary Tour and the release of a triple classic DVD set - the new album arrived earlier in the year. Many may have been thinking we'd hear no more from this legendary trio - but they're back, and in a similar vein to the previous album, Vapor Trails, this is a mature and thoughtful record - more AOR than Prog. For those who have never heard of Rush - get Moving Pictures (1981) - you'll be hooked. The band has stuck to the same line up since their second album (original drummer left in 1974), and released over 20 successive platinum albums. (Only Kiss have ...  Read the complete review

Good to relax to. Celine Dion is a great singer with such passion and love in her voice Not a good album to listen to if you want something a bit more up beat.

A pleasant surplus of lead guitar melodies balanced out with some angry death metal. Overly repetitive, and too similar to Dark Tranquillity and others to truly stand out.

The opening and ending songs are brilliant Very samey, not a particularly surprising album

Everything! Nothing

Vocals, music, lyrics Rare, not to every ones taste, Perhaps a little too mellow, Matthew Jay's album is better

Pop - 2007
