The Rhode Island-raised R&B singer Blu Cantrell released "So Blu" as her debut album back in 2001. It saw her break through in a way which would allow her to really blow up in popularity for her second album when her most well-known song "Breathe" in collaboration with Sean Paul came out in 2003. 1. "Waste My Time" Getting the album underway, this song has her breaking into some fly material which sees her working on beats form Tricky Stewart. Female RnB singer-songwriters aren't exactly scarce at the moment, and you could say that it's sometimes hard to see the wood for the trees. If that is the case, 'So Blu', the debut from 25 year old American Blu Cantrell is most definitely low-grade chipboard rather than polished mahogany. I decided to buy the album on the strength of the Charleston driven 'Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!)' which was a Top 20 hit in 2001. A humerous (and slightly bitter) tale about gaining revenge on a cheating boyfriend, I thought that I couldn't go wrong buying the album for just £2.99 at the HMV sale. Oh how wrong I was...
