Advantages: Very approachable music, cute music, infectiously catchy songs

Disadvantages: Might not be to everyones tastes of music

Just in case you haven't heard of Tegan and Sara before, they hail from Calgary, Alberta and have been active in the music scene since 1995. They both write all their own songs, sing, play instruments and oh yeah, are identical twins :)

So Jealous is their fourth studio album and was released in September 2004. And, as with all of their music, the songs are mainly upbeat (of course, there are exceptions!) and at such a short length, leave you wanting more. The album itself is under an hour in length but it is an hour that you will want to repeat.

While this album is not as readily available as it really should be, it is available to purchase new from Amazon.co.uk through independent stores (£9.95 exc. p&p), and is also available to download through iTunes for £7.99. Either way, this is a cheap but fantastic album.

I can't find fault with the other tracks that are on the album but these are just recommended tracks if you don't know of them and are looking to investigate. Please don't think that Tegan and Sara are all cute pop songs either- they will make you re-evaulate the genre of pop music completely. They have reinvented it with clever, thoughtful lyrics about different types of love and life, infectious guitar riffs and vocals that are so undeniably distinct.

Some of the songs from this album have also featured in popular TV shows such as Greys Anatomy and One Tree Hill, and while I am not a fan of either show (don't judge me) it is a demonstration of their popularity. They are worthy of being featured in popular TV.

If you like girls with guitars, love songs, music to dance to or just something that is different to the manufactured pop that is polluting the airwaves now then I would say listen to these two girls. The lyrics are poetic, the songs are short enough so you never get bored but long enough to engage you and are so deserving of attention from the UK. Go get a copy, now!
