Jubilee - Sex Pistols

Premium Review A load of Boll.... (613 words)
by otalgia - written on 10/08/08 (Very useful, 84 readings)
Rating:

The Sex Pistols need no introduction. The foul mouthed four piece were the face of punk in 1977 and encapsulated all of the angst and hatred against the dull and egoistic face of UK progressive rock. Their debut album Never mind the bollocks was their defining moment and was never matched with any of their future material. The departure from the band of John lydon (nee Rotten) was the nail in the coffin for the band. Jubilee is another Sex Pistols compilation of their Greatest Hits which in itself could be seen as another commercial sell-out. The album was released in 2002 to co-incide with the Queens Golden Jubilee (hence the title). Their other greatest hits album ...

Premium Review Oh So Pretty! (549 words)

Rating:

(aka Johnny Rotten - an Irishman, you know) backed by few chord aural vandals became visibly apparent; and it wasn't an indie thing, oh no, the Malcolm McLaren managed The Sex Pistols wanted to penetrate the mainstream and open up peoples minds, not to destroy them or to tell them what to do, which is what really was subtley being done by political decline; the dissapearance of communities, the start of isolation and the mechanization of humanity. The Sex Pistols in hindsight may be just another meat and potatoes band now, but unlike Primal Scream and their recent political sloganeering charade, The Sex Pistols message had meaning and relevance for it's day. Original / Thought Provoking / Mature / Well Written and Strong Tracks Lack of commercial success means many will skip it / Not very positive smiley people beware

Under Rug Swept - Alanis Morissette
Alanis back doing what she does best, writing infectious but powerful songs, Demonstrates a more mature approach both musically and lyrically, 'At That Particular Time', 'Precious Illusions' 'You Owe me Nothing' edges a bit too close to filler for comfortIt's still recognisably Alanis, so if you hated 'Jagged Little Pill' you'd best steer clear
