      Ruff Endz.

      **Introduction**

Some of you may be aware of Ruff Endz but for those who aren't here's a little info on them. They are an R&B duo named David "Davinch" Chance and Dante "Chi" Jordan. They hail from Baltimore, Maryland and they released their debut album "Love Crimes" in 2000 Which contained the singles "No More" and "Where Does Love Go From Here". To date they have released three studio albums with the latest coming last year which was "Love Potion".

      **Someone to Love**

This album was their second release and hit the stores in 2002. It's led by the title track which was their last single to be released. The album features production from Troy Moet and Troy Patterson and features a collaboration with Memphis Bleek on the lead single "Cash, Money, Cars, Clothes" which peaked at 69 on the US Billboard R&B Chart. That single was released a few months before the album was released the following year. The album dropped on 14th May 2002 on Epic Records.

      **My View**

      1.) Someone to Love

This is the title track and gets things off to a very strong start, This is a flowing ballad which opens with nice keyboard tones and soon the beat and vocals come in. It's clear as soon as the vocals come in that both are very capable singers who have a decent emotive quality and are capable of showing off their range when it's called for. This track is about a woman who you have feelings for who has been hurt in relationships before and is worried about getting into a relationship for fear of being hurt again. This track is very strong and puts across it's message well.

      2.) Will You Be Mine

This is another slow seductive ballad, It tells the story of the man promising to commit to the woman and asking if they feel the same way. This is a very strong track which further demonstrates their vocal ability which has a strong Sense of sincerity about it. It even features a very decent guitar solo in the middle of the track which adds a decent quality to the track. This track builds perfectly and is another good track to open the album with. Very good indeed.

      3.) You

This is another ballad which sees them sounding a lot like fellow R&B duo KCI & JoJo which again shows the natural flow they give off in their vocals and just the overall feel of the track has a very good flow. This track is about saying to someone that whatever happens you will still be the only one for me. Like the previous track this track builds very well until they both demonstrate their obvious talent both collectively and individually. This is another very good ballad.

      4.) Cash, Money, Cars, Clothes

This is a departure from the opening three tracks with a very hip hop style track. This features Memphis Bleek and comes complete with a fantastic bass hook which runs throughout the track giving it a very catchy feel. This track is about Cash, Money, Cars and Clothes obviously. It's a catchy ode to the lifestyle which comes with success in the Music Industry. This track shows that they can do this kind of thing nearly as well as they do the slow ballads.

      5.) Bigger

This is a lovely stripped down ballad which features gentle guitar and a laid back beat which backs their smooth vocals. This track is about the Love between two being bigger than the jewellery and other expensive items they have. This track is a nice indication of Money not making you happy if certain things are not strong in your life. This track really shows off their vocal ability to great effect and of course it would with such an emotive subject. Great stuff and very smooth.

      6.) Shake It

This is a mid tempo track which has a rather catchy feel, it starts with nice gentle percussive claps and mellow guitar. This track reminds me a little of Jagged Edge which is a good thing. After a couple of minutes this track comes into it's own with a very flowing delivery. This has a sexy, seductive club feel and would get a few slightly intoxicated ladies dancing suggestively in a club I would have thought. A decent mid tempo track.

      7.) Would U Leave Me

This track features some catchy hooks and loops to start with and then the beats bring it into a very catchy mid/up tempo track. The keys which feature throughout add a very nice touch. This track is a great indication of the flow they have together and they both take their parts very well. In summing up this Track It's undoubtedly a very flowing and a very good up tempo joint which also has a message to about being together for love and not for money.

      8.) Sure Thing

This is a rather decent mid tempo track which features a rolling beat and some gentle guitar and keyboards. The vocals are again smooth and seductive and the flow is laid back. This track again features some great vocals and has a very good feel. This is another very strong track and there's yet to be a bad track on the album. Will that continue?? We shall see soon enough.

      9.) Kamasutra

With that title It doesn't take a genius to tell you that this is a raunchy track. It has a very flowing catchy feel with some eastern computerised sounds in the background. This is another strong track which is an up tempo version of a bedroom track. Get down to this to start off with and then slow down with a romantic ballad. This track has some of the best beats and hooks on the album.

      10.) Threesome

Another Track which has a title that is pretty self explanatory. It's a very raunchy track here and this time it's a lovely smooth ballad, This is a great track about wanting and having a threesome with your partner and her female friend. This could have been a disaster but It certainly isn't and is one of the finest cuts on the album. This is a very romantic threesome I have you know. Very good soulful seductive stuff here.

      11.) If It Wasn't for....

This is a Sisqo/Usher like up beat track which builds well. The beat is reminiscent of Sisqo and the vocals and structure are like Usher. This is another very good up tempo slice of Ruff Endz and has a nice contrast with the smooth vocals mixed with the heavy beats and hip hop feel. This track is Not bad at all.

12.) You Mean The World To Me

This brings the album back to the smooth ballads with a lovely emotive song about How much someone means to you, The simple beat and overall instrumentation provides a perfect soundstage to the smooth vocals and sincere lyrics. This is without a doubt a contender for best song on the album and has some great vocals from both as well as the backing vocalists who provide great vocals. This is a really fabulous ballad that shows you everything you need to know about the appeal of them.

      13.) Don't Stop

This is a funky up tempo joint which has a very fast, flowing feel and has a great club feel, It's a track about letting your frustrations go when you're dancing and just letting everything go. The key lyrics on the track are "Don't stop, get on the floor let me see you dance till you can't no more". This is a great club track, It should be introduced at every club night. great flow and very catchy.

      14.) Look to the Hills

This is a lovely ballad to end on, It features gentle keys and a taut laid back beat. This track is about looking for hope that things will turn out right when things are going wrong for you. This is a superb ballad which is exudes great vocals, perfect music setting and the fantastic structure that is perfect for this song. Brilliant ballad and a great one to end on that sums up the quality of the album.

      **Overall**

This is their best album to date and falls slightly short of my full five stars for a couple of tracks which are very good but don't quite hit the heights which other tracks set. Having said that this is still a very good album indeed with a great mix of up tempo tracks and smooth seductive ballads. On this evidence it's clear that They should be much more well known than they are. "Someone to Love" is a fine album and is available from only £2.57 at amazon.co.uk, why not check it out at Spotify first.
