There has always been a cinematic quality to the T Tindersticks music, their second eponymous album in particular sounding like it could be the soundtrack to a French melodrama; the rain drenched orchestral backdrops to their ballads conjuring up images of unrequited love, doomed affairs and general hopelessness. Can Our Love... - Tindersticks

The T Tindersticks have returned, with an album that impresses more with every listen. Like Simple Pleasures, the emphasis is on simple love songs rather than the epic melodramas of earlier albums. But whereas Simple Pleasures threatened at times to drown the listener in contrived melancholy, 'Can Our Love...'is a maturer, subtler album. Songs like 'People Keep Comin Around', 'Sweet Release' and 'Chilitetime' see a more vigorous tempo than recent albums, but its the slower tracks that really shine.
