Advantages: Tears For Fears have never been better

Disadvantages: THAT track

Yes this is very 80's music, but be prepared to bow down in wonder at just how excellent these guys were.

"Shout" was great to do that dancing on the spot dance that everyone seemed to be doing in the clubs at the time. Well they were in mine, but maybe I was missing the point. Anyhow, I still enjoy belting this one out in the car. The kids don't but hey... <shrug>

I just love the sax at the beginning of this track and how everything just flooooowwwwwwsssss nicely into the beat. I find this to have a certain timelessness about it, and think it still sounds as fresh and excellent as it did all those <cough> years ago. Well worth listening to on headphones when you're chilling.

Now, I'm going to just mention the next title and that's all because it became very, very famous at the time for advertising a charity event and it got really, really, really overplayed (albeit in a good cause)... it's "Everybody Wants To Rule The World". Remember? Yep. I'm getting twitchy now.

"Mother's Talk" and the feet are starting to tap. More on the spot dancing. Excellent track. Great for singing into hairbrushes in front of the mirror.

A really beautiful song given the excellent vocal treatment from Roland against a simple background of piano and subtle drumming, is "I Believe". And NO this is definitely not The Batchelors version, or what'shisface and what'shisface - the army rejects - this is a fantastic piece of music and deserves infinitely more respect.

Now we have the track "Broken" which is then followed by "Head Over Heels/Broken" and these are quite rocky little numbers for the boys and the guitaring is excellent from Roland O. They blend well and more importantly the work extremely well.

"Listen" is the final track, and suitably arty. This is intriguing and electronic and jolly nice indeed.

I
rate this above all of their stuff so far. A minor classic in it's day that should've been appreciated more widely.
