Leppard have ridden the wave of the new popularity and in 2006 recorded a covers album entitled 'Yeah' which included some of their favourite songs from people like Badfinger, David Bowie and even David Essex. Songs From the Sparkle Lounge is their most recent album to date. ----------------------- Opinion - ---------------------- I was quite surprised how much the band have started to sound like U2, on quite a...more

Songs From The Sparkle Lounge - Def Leppard: Do You Wanna Get Rocked? (604 words)

Songs From the Sparkle Lounge, Def Leppard, 2008 --------------------- Background --------------------- Originally from Sheffield and one of the bands that became part of the NWOBHM (The New Wave of British Heavy Metal), Leppard are another band whose fortunes were forged with the advent of MTV. Spending much of the 80's with massive hair and belting out corkers like 'Photograph' and 'Lets Get Rocked', Leppard were waving the British metal flag around the world with the likes of Whitesnake and Iron Maiden. Rating:

Songs From The Sparkle Lounge is the latest album released by Sheffield's greatest, Def Leppard. Released worldwide in late April 2008, it contains 11 tracks initially, with a bonus track for those here in the UK, and a further 2 bonus tracks for Japanese fans. The length of the initial 11 tracks is just over 39 minutes, with the length of each individual track very similar to the next, with the shortest tracks both being 3 minutes 3 seconds, and the longest at 4 minutes 17 seconds. As a Def Leppard fan, I'm used to their songs not going on for too long, but when they do, I tend to find they get a bit repetetive, therefore the use of short tracks on the album ...  Read the complete review
