Advantages: All Songs Are Incredible!, Lovely voice!
Disadvantages: None
At last! Finally, there's a decent singer who can write and play her own music aswell. This is rare collection of classic musical tunes which have been put together very nicely in deed. Alicia Keys is a soulfilled r and b diva with massive potentials! The best tracks on the hour long album being the stunning masterpiece "Fallin", the re-made much improved "How Come You Don't Call Me" and duet with Jimmy Cozier "Mr. Man". Incredible notes played whilst truly breath taking verses are sung out. Also, on "Mr Man" we are treated to the soothing melody of violins! Some other songs like "Girlfriend" "Rock Wit U" aren't quite as spectacular, but still provide good listening. Every track has a distinctive sound and never ever sounds similar to the last one. Another favourite of mine is the hidden "Lovin U". Why this is kept a secret is odd. "Butterflyz" and "Why Do I Feel so Sad" are loving smooth ballads. It is suprising how good this album actually is. In the UK, Keys has only just released her first single so she is fairly new to the industry. Hopefully, we'll be seeing a lot more from this talented artist!

- 23/11/01 A good opinion - but if you like Alicia then check out Jill Scott, Erykah Badu or India.Arie. Much more evocative in their lyrics and deeper in their meaning. |
