A Worm's Life - The Crash Test Dummies
by Mask_and_Mirror - written on 11/08/09 (Very useful, 27 readings)
Rating:
first CD I ever bought! Having borrowed God Shuffled His Feet from my father and loved it, I decided to buy all of the albums of the Crash Test Dummies for myself, starting with this one, and I have never looked back! (Until just then when I reminisced about it for your benefit!) Brad Robert s clever, humorous and philosophical lyrics are blended with his incredible, deep voice to produce a totally unique sound. Anyway, having bought this album (and having it copied onto a tape for me by my dad so I could ...

Rating:
Canadian music once again letting us know its not to be underrated- like their compatriot band The Horseflies, their musicianship is great. This album is deeply melodic, very quirky and occasionally sad. Whether you decide to see the lyrics as a social commentary, a step into an alternative universe, or just good fun, on listening to this album I'm sure you'll see that it can be appreciated on many levels. The gravelly voice of the lead singer contrasts masterfully against the lighter, sometime quite poppy instrumental style, whilst the smooth production ensures that once listened to, you will wish to do so again. From the irreverent 'God Shuffled His ...

Mmm Mmm" it was called and was a global hit. Brad Roberts is the bloke with the unfeasibly deep voice who both wrote and sang it. The band? Crash Test Dummies .
<br> They came largely unannounced out of the heaving rock and roll cauldron that is Winnipeg, somewhere in British Canada in the late 80s and the album this track is taken from was their second, "God Shuffled His Feet". The first one was "The Ghosts That Haunt Me" in 1991 and was fairly well received; "God" sold millions. Rightly so, too. It's quite possibly one of the best collections ...
