The Cult were the masters of re-invention. From spotty faced punks, to young goth rockers and finally to full on leather clad rock warriors, they always knew how to deliver the goods. The previous release, Electric had seen the band turn a creative corner and they had gone off to America to find a producer who could make them sound like AC/DC. Whilst Electric was a very successful album, it was not until Sonic Temple that they found the consistancy and polish, and created a whole new and original sound for themselves.
