      Amazingly fast player

Toni Iordache was a superb cimbalom player, if you aren't aware what one is, I will do my best to explain. It's a frame with four legs, a dampening pedal and strings across the top which are generally hit with beaters that look like a larger version of the kind that would be used to play a glockenspiel. The cymbalom is used in music throughout the eastern of Europe and the mediterranean but the ones that are used today are generally considered to be Hungarian, due to József Schunda developing the instrument.

Iordache was one the finest, players of a cymbalom - he'd played since the age of 4 and had it down to a tee, it's a shame he had a relatively short life (dieing at 45 of diabetes) or I may have had chance to see him live in concert!

The music on this album is mostly instrumental, it shows a mixture of his solo work and work with other artists, the album includes songs with the great Romica Puceanu as well as Fanfare Ciocoarlia and Gabi Lunca. Perhaps the best thing about his work is that just about all of his work paints a vivid picture through the high-pitch sounds created by this instrument. However nice it is though, a whole album of instrumental music can be a bit wearing on me, so I'm very happy about the additions of the tracks with vocalists thrown in. I can't quite choose a favourite song but I think it may be Ca la Breaza or Tinerete, Tinerete.
