A searingly loud album, listened to at volume 10 of a possible 30 because of recent ear clicks and complaints, take this into account when deciding the review's credibility. I bought it because of a song I heard by them I like that unfortunately doesn't appear here. "It Was There (That I Saw You)" is a great aching of guitars and mad drumming mixed with haunted wonder vocals; it produces a kind of displacing effect. "Another Morning Stoner" has pleading guitars and far-off plunder of drums--a moody number. "Baudelaire" is an ace song, not limiting its enigmatically dark French bard of a source. And I thought my tastes had developed far beyond angry guitar music.. Maybe I'm just a music snob, but I left my Faith No More albums back in 1997 where they belonged. I was young and a right little pissant. That music was the outlet I needed for all my pent-up teenage rage. I wasn't angry about much in particular, but by golly I was very angry. A few years on from then and with my continued development as an adult of the species, my tastes have changes almost indiscernably. So do they have the longest band name ever? Well, a little investigation throws up some interesting results. The longest I could find was a band called 'When People Were Shorter And Lived Near The Water' which it must be said is near as interesting as the band being reviewed here. Pity then that James Joyce never got round to forming his own beat combo. Their name would likely fill up a dooyoo review on its own! And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead come from Austin, Texas and are based around the core of multi-instrumentalists Jason Reece and Conrad Keely.
