... Bill, alias Captain Kirk alias T J Hooker, the man who puts the Shat into Shatner, always had a ridiculously over-inflated view of his acting and here he is given free rein to inflict some awful singing together with some cod-Hamlet lines. His famous renditions of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and Mr Tambourine Man are both featured here, though my favourite is the so-bad-it's-good rendering of How Insensitive, done here in true lounge lizard sleazy nightclub style. He goes totally OTT on the chestnut ...more

Premium Review Spaced Out - The Very Best Of William Shatner & Leonard Nimoy - William Shatner: There's music Jim, but not as we know it (373 words)
by - written on 19/08/07 (Useful, 113 readings)
Rating:

This is a compilation of the recorded works of the two leads in Star Trek, namely William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, who between them brought out six albums in the late 1960's / early 1970's on the obscure US label Dot. Let's face it you ain't gonna get this for its music, only for its kitsch. Bill, alias Captain Kirk alias T J Hooker, the man who puts the Shat into ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review I Am Not Spock, Dammit (1523 words)

Rating:

Leonard Nimoy is not Spock. ‘That’s right, I Am Not Spock,’ he protested in his 1970s autobiography, adding, ‘unless someone is offering me money to cash in on that character I played for three lousy years.’ ‘You are so Spock,’ the world persisted. ‘I Am Not Spock, I have done other things. Don’t you remember, I was Mr. Paris in thirty episodes of Mission: Impossible, replacing Martin Landau’s character.’ ‘That’s interesting,’ said a man in a home-made Star Trek uniform, ‘Landau was the original choice to play the Spock character in 1964.’ ‘Ah... get-a-life!’ yelled William Shatner. During the ...  Read the complete review

Great voice, good choice of songs Not for everyone, not a very distinctive voice

Great dance tunes, rather an unexpectedly good cd, well known and talented artists If you hate dancey/ ambient tunes you may well hate this, don't buy it just because you like the All saints!

Andersson's keyboard playing, some interesting and well played instrumentals, the title track Differing types of music, not particularly modern, some very stagey vocals
