Space are, or should I say, were an indie band from Liverpool who rose to the public's attention during the downturn of the Britrock movement in the mid 1990s and released two albums. This one, 'Spiders' being their debut. The band achieved notoriety due to their quirky lyrics and gritty song topics although their success was somewhat short-lived ... Read the complete review

Perhaps one of the forgotten Indie bands of the time Space were better known for a couple of hit singles more than anything. The Liverpool Indie kids burst onto the scene in the mid 90’s with the instant hit “Female Of The Species” taken from this album, Spiders. Of course the mid 90’s was a real growth period for Indie and as well as the number ... Read the complete review

This album was released in 1996 under Gut Records. Off the album the band released ‘Neighbourhood’, ‘Female of the species’, ‘Me & you vs. the world’ and ‘Dark clouds’ though I found that when I listened to the album all the songs were very different, mainly the album track were a heavier style than ... This should of been a number 1 album! The songs on this album are so soo good. They are just completely mad, and off the cuff which is very refreshing, rather than songs about dreary existence, songs about someones mad Neighbourhood are good to hear. They seem like a cross between Madness, and a rock band. Nearly all of the album is ... Read the complete review

This fabulous debut from the cheeky scoucers, Space, deserves your money! Despite me being ripped off for paying £15, I certainly don't regret the purchase. A friend recommended this album to me. I said I hadn't heard of them, and then he pointed out to me that Female of the Species (In Austin Powers) was by them! Then when watching the ... Read the complete review

I think that this album was massively underrated. In short, it is funny, cheerful, macabre and amazingly catchy. i have introduced all of my friends to Space through this album (see Spacegirl's website @ http://zip.to/spacezone) I loved Tin Planet and I am waiting for their next album which is out soon! Everyone in the world seems to ... Read the complete review

Space are one of those bands that seem to be free of the angst and depression that usually accompanies guitar bands. However, relentless upbeat-ness doesn't usually make for good music - lack of deep-set emotion - and such is the case with this album. It just sounds slightly forced all the way; the band is probably trying to continue the ... Read the complete review

May I ask what has happened to Space!!! I saw them back Bryan Adams in Hyde Park, where they were playing some new songs from their latest album, then they simply disappeared! Am I missing the big underground cult of fans or have they simply ceased to exist such as The New Radicals. It is possible that there songs have just not reached the charts ...
